I try to stay away from zoom lens but use telephotos lens as much as possible. I just like to play with their shallow depth of field.

Telephoto lens have only one focal and have to be higher than the normal usually for a dslr 60mm & up. A zoom lens only means that it has a range of focal and it can also be in the wide angle range to a short telephoto. So a 200mm lens is a telephoto while a 40-200mm lens is a zoom.

Right, a telephoto is a fix lens like a normal or wideangle lens.
They can also come with much lower f\ftop with increasing price. ex my favorite for the bird is the 400mm f\2.8 $8K while the f\5.6 could be $800.
BTW A fix lens should also be sharper than a zoom lens (less glass).

but yep, I get the fact that lenses are much expensive than the DSLR body, but still~~~
so uh...by means of "sharper", there's actually a difference with the lenses themselves?
I thought you can always make clear sharp images IF YOU ONLY hold your camera steady or practice holding it well~~~~
Or wait... since they have a high focal length/range, one small budge or vibration or if you have a lousy hold of the camera and that'd ruin everything...
