I often find that I enjoy the raw vibrant fluid feel of quick sketches more than the polished feel of colored drawings

(For my work, the reason is simple: I don't yet have a very firm understanding of structure, and the flaws come out of the woodwork once I start coloring. With sketches I can sort of disguise my mistakes because the lines are rough.)

True, thats also why i do it. Im not great at human anatomy tbh, and when i do it traditionally, its really cringe worthy. i sketch alot cause its kinda like practice in a way haha

I've been practicing drawing human anatomy, but ehhhh organics so hard

ikr, even with all the tutorials, once i start doing my own, it becomes cruddy all of a sudden haha. But i guess referencing is key, then we mold it on our own and just keep going on :'D

Mhm. Precisely. For what it's worth, I think your anatomy looks perfectly solid. It's more robust than my attempts, definitely.

Well we cant master everything, but we can certainly master what we already have.

Haha thank you, though when it comes to making them move, doing a pose i cnt really see in my head and put out on the screen, is hard. Some of these were luck-shots haha

Looking at your gallery, its not too bad with those 3 pics, itll take some time. But its gnna be worth it. Loves the weapons btw. Thats really cool, ive always had a problem with drawing weapons and yours is just wow. theyre amazing.

Thank you! I haven't put up my more recent (human) drawings because, well, I think they're pretty subpar. Maybe I should start posting again, even if all I have are sketches

I find weapons to be easier because they're hard, well-defined purposes and also because I'm an engineer Hence why my drawings look like, well, engineering diagrams.

oh my, that explains alot bout the weapons gallery there xD ahahhaa
pretty amazing tbh.Β

dont worry about copying, just use like, photos and lower their opacity. then draw overem *incase ya know, maybe u hvnt tried it yet haha*

oh and your strength is my weakness hahaahatheir solidity makes it hard for me cause im more fluid in shapes? i dont do well with them being so linear sometimes ahaha

That's a good tip. I'll try it. The way I think, I tend to try to understand the underlying structure and build up from there (skeleton -> muscles -> skin, etc.).
This is a lot easier to do with stuff like, say, metal parts - not so easy with flesh!

omg ive tried that and tbh the process is too long. i envy those who can build from structre then base sketch then to lineart just like that.Β
so true hahaha for me its the otherway, metal is hard as heck, but flesh is somewhat easier. i like sketches cause theyre fastΒ

Honestly though, I think coloring and texture matters more for metal stuff than lines - and on that front especially, your work looks great. I have a hard time with color. Must practice more

all aspects of art matters. but the one that matters the most is the one you love the most. thats what really matters haha

practice is all you need and thanks haha . yours is great too, dont stop, youll be able to get it in right some day.Β
