A lone male Homo habilis abandons a fresh white rhino carcass to a horde of vultures and other scavengers. He manages to make off with only one leg bone, but thanks to his primitive stone tools he can still get to the valuable marrow within. In the background a Megantereon saber-tooth crouches down, deciding whether or not to claim the carcass or the early hominid.
