I made this as a gift for my friend's wedding. She asked for artwork about her dog in her registry and I was happy to do that. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, I hadn't made a flat color collage like this in awhile. My goal was to make something easy on the eye but still with some subtle tricks that make it rewarding to really study. I layered the paper so parts of the dog are actually in the background and other parts float in the foreground. A major inspiration for the movement was Dynamism of a Dog on a leash by Giacomo Balla. I've always found that painting delightful especially when compared to the usually violent work of the Italian futurists.As I said, I'm happy with it, and I hope she'll appreciate it. I hope DA will appreciate it as well.
