Wishing Star has been all alone for a very, very long time.
The night Celestia exiled Nightmare Moon, she felt a lot of things, mostly betrayal, anger and fear, Nightmare had completely disregarded her when Star had tried to find her mother underneath all that anger, but she had to believe Luna was still somewhere in there, but then the fighting began and Star witnessed the remains of what used to be her mother attempt to murder her beloved aunt. The whole time the young filly could only curl up and call for both of her mothers, one of which had passed away some time ago and the other was currently trying to destroy everything in her path. By the time the fight was done and the moon bared a new face Star had already fled the castle, she resented Celestia, if she would have tried harder they could have found a solution to get her mom back, she resented herself, as apparently she wasn't good enough as a daughter to save her mother from the horrible curse that had fallen on her, so as a punishment unto herself she just sat on the everfree forest, hoping her glowing mane wouldn't attract any dark beats or direwolfs, and on that spot she cried, without knowing how much time she spent crying as the dark winter night embraced her trembling body and covered her on a white blanket of snow, and like this, Wishing Star cried herself to sleep, knowing her mother wasn't there to look at her nightmares, and hoping that her aunt's sun would never wake her
