Scotch hatched in the fickle forest. Her parents had taken her away from their traveling community and had hoped to reach Wynsiph before their egg hatched but Scotch hatched a few days early so for a few days she and her parents continued on their way to the town. Her parents wanted their first daughter to grow up in a stable town where she would be safe with a nova tree and not constantly moving around with their community. Just before the small family reached the town, Scotch's parents set her down and left. It was summer and she was close enough they were sure someone would find her quickly.
Scotch grew up in the Nook, adopting the role of big sister to another wyngling who hatched a little bit after she came to the Nook. Cajeta was her shadow in their younger years they were always seen together however Scotch never felt that she belonged in the town she always had a feeling that something waited for her outside of the small town and as she got older she spent more and more time wandering further into the fickle forest when ever Alma wasn't watching.
As her baby spot started to fade, Scotch snuck out in the middle of the night and ran into the forest. She didn't go very far and would still go into town for food and to visit friends but she lived in the forest, digging herself a den to keep herself warm. One day a gray egg washed up on the banks of the river and Scotch, now almost an adult, decided to adopt the egg. She mastered fire magic quickly in her first winter outside of town, using her basic skills to keep herself and her two adopted daughters warm.
Returning to Wynsiph for Cajeta's birthday she ended up getting roped into the fight against the Deelagun. In the battle she ran into her younger sister who had come to find her to ask her to help their parents, however in the battle her sister was killed and Scotch was badly injured. As soon as she had healed from her injuries, she left Wynsiph once again to return to the Fickle forest, however this time with a goal to find out where her parents might be and to see what her sister meant by they needed her help.
