First conceived during the Mandar Wars as a close support auto Laser pistol for special forces. Produced in two few numbers and to late to effect that conflict. However they played a big role in the frantic fighting of the Zainkzian war five years later. Well liked by soldiers for it's reliability and usefulness in close quarter combat such as boarding parties. They can be found with space marines and anywhere Earth/Humanity's troops can be found. Few other alien civilizations have adopted it preferring indigenous equivalents. At this point some 50+ years after is first use the designee is showing it's age. Many rightfully complain of its lack of stopping power especially against more heavily armored appoints that are becoming more common on the battlefield. The above example is one of the latest modal it is not only capable of the basic single shot, blurts fire, fully automatic of it's predecessors but it can be switched with the press of a button from the usual red laser beam to blue green for under water combat but to X-ray Laser to defeat anti laser counter measures.

This example above has a removable forward handle, an extra long E-clip but is not depicted with removable collapsible shoulder stock.
