I love the contrast between the sky and the ground; it's reminiscent of fire or blood, and then there's the fact that cold death is waiting for the men and women hanging from the trees. The symbolism of the church, which stands front-and-center in the piece, is a powerful reminder of the destructive forces that have brought about the catastrophe. Great work.
