The Arcanax Compendium is the central artifact in the Silver Serpent stories. When the villain used it, anyone in the city of Argos (and somewhat further) who had even a touch of the Strain was given enhanced powers. Likewise, the Arcanax Compendium can be used to steal powers from people with the Strain as well.
