Description
Hey guys,So recently I've been working on an eat3d tutorial teaching people how to get hard surface results similar to that of a traditional 3d package. It was just released so I figured I'd upload it.
You can find the tutorial here:
[link]
The tutorial covers a bit of the concepting, reworking, sculpting the final model, rendering with Vray, and compositing in Photoshop.
As for the design, I was very inspired by the Marine and the Firebat from Starcraft 2. I enjoyed that game a lot and loved the designs so i wanted to achieve something similar. Also I was trying to focus on maneuverability of the character it self. I wanted to create a mech that would have as little self collision as possible.
The programs I used for this were:
Zbrush - For the model and sculpting
3ds max with Vray - For rendering passes
Photoshop - For compositing
Also the DVD covers a bit of compositing to show you the basics of how to achieve a final image like this.
Anyways, please enjoy and I hope you like it!
Edit: Daily Deviation!!! Oh my god thank you so much to ^artofkerem for featuring it!!! Thanks to all those who favorited and commented on it. It means so much to me

Very friggen sweet, looks so real, i almost believed you took a mold and made it out of plastic and wore it to a airsoft game or something., however, I am a detailist, and the place where the feet meet the ground just doesn't look right. other than that, it's very cool, now, make one in real life.

haha thanks! Yeah teh effect is lost in the feet I think it's a number of factors, collision being one of them. If you have7,000,000 I can get started on a real one right away!

It might actually be possible. Look up i think trojan amrour? it's real life battle armour designed for troops. God it's so beastly.
I think it's because it looks like it's floating. Maybe the shadow around the feet isn't quite right. I can fix it on PS7, if you'd like.

Very great work! Have seen much analog and digital models similar to this style but your scratches are perfect. Only the feet loses a lit of depth, donΒ΄t know why.

Haha thanks man! I agree the illusion in the feet is lost. Mainly I think ti's a composite render so there is no surface details that catch light XD. Thanks again! β₯
