Hola a todos de nuevo, y en mi siguiente obra de Kalashnikovs Extranjeros volveremos a la antigua República Democrática Alemana (comúnmente conocida como la antigua Alemania Oriental) para mostraros, esta vez, otros fusiles de asalto que son los sucesores de los MPi-KM y son copias exactas del AK-74 soviético (el arma sucesora del AKM). Éstos nuevos fusiles de asalto son los MPiK-74, fabricados por primera vez en el año 1983 y también fueron las armas estándar de las fuerzas armadas de la antigua Alemania Oriental hasta el año 1990, cuando tuvo lugar la Reunificación de Alemania. Las diferencias que existen entre los fusiles MPiK-74 germano-orientales y los AK-74 soviéticos son exactamente las mismas diferencias que existen entre los fusiles MPi-KM de la Alemania Oriental y los AKM soviéticos. Las culatas, los pistoletes y los guardamanos de los MPiK-74 germano-orientales están hechos de plástico duro y no de madera, para así aumentar la resistencia al calor cuando éstos fusiles de asalto disparan largas ráfagas de balas en modo automático. Mientras que en el fusil de asalto MPiK-74S, (la versión local del AKS-74 soviético) las culata plegable son la misma que la que incorpora su antecesor, el fusil MPi-KMS y se recogen solamente hacia el lado derecho del arma, mientras que la culata plegable del AKS-74 original se recoge solo hacia el lado izquierdo del fusil de asalto. Y otro dato curioso sobre los fusiles MPiK-74 germano-orientales es que, al tener las culatas, los pistoletes y los guardamanos hechos de plástico duro y no de madera, también tienen mejor calidad y rendimiento que el AK-74 soviético y, por ello, tienen un costo más alto que sus contrapartes originales. Pero los fusiles de asalto MPiK-74 germano-orientales, a pesar de ser armas más caras que los AK-74 soviéticos, también son armas bastante comunes de verse y utilizarse en cualquier país del mundo cuyas fuerzas del orden operen con los fusiles de asalto AK-74 y/o AK-74M.
