Charlecote Park has been home to the Lucy family for over 800 years. The house, Tudor in origin, was extensively remodelled by the Victorians and this is how visitors see it today. It is sited next to the River Avon within a picturesque deer park where William Shakespeare is said to have been caught poaching. Charlecote houses an important collection of Beckford furnishings from the Fonthill Abbey sale of 1823 and has one of the most important libraries within the National Trust.
