I present to you Lixin (LEE-SHIN) Jia’s husband and MK’s father!

(accidentally gave him slightly feminine hips. Oops! Still getting used to drawing male figures.)

* Lixin and Jia were high school sweethearts who married a few years after graduation.
* He comes from humble origins, a middle class family whose lived in the city they’re whole lives. He went to school for art, so you can see where MK gets his affinity for drawing. He got a bad case of puppy love for Jia when they were freshmen, but became something more serious as years passed. In all honesty the relationship was really one sided. Jia didn’t really feel anything beyond friendship for him in the beginning, but her feelings slowly began to change over time. He was always so expressive, energetic, and endlessly kind.
* The point of realization for Jia was when she saw he was standing up for Tang, trying to protect him from the local school bullies.
(I head-canon that the three of them went to the same school together)
But since Lixin is a pacifist, he didn’t so much as raise a hand when the boys started pushing him around. She watched how as they’re focus turned to him, it gave Tang a chance to escape. Tang scurried back, but was ready to run for help, but stopped the moment he felt a hand on his shoulder. He met Jia’s gaze, and watched as she strolled up to the main bully and his posse. And was in utter awe as she effortlessly took them out without gaining so much as a scratch. Jia help Lixin to stand, rebuking him for not trying to defend himself, but commended him for his bravery. They started to hang out more often after that incident, Jia feeling the need to watch his back, and Lixin just enjoying her company. Eventually they started officially dating after they entered their senior year.
* Lixin himself is can be either super laid back or as excitable as Mei. In comparison to Jia’s sometimes stoic demeanor, he seems her polar opposite in some aspects. You would think this causes them to clash, but in reality they balance each other quite perfectly.
* When MK came into the picture, he was over the moon! Did his absolute best to be a great dad. Always encouraging MK to do his best, drawing with him, playing video games, talking about his interests when he got older; taking every opportunity he could to bond with his son.
* In short he was a great dad and a wonderful husband. But all good things must come to an end.
* It happened just a couples years before MK would discover the Monkey King’s staff. He and his father were just walking through the city on MK’s break. The two of them taking they’re usual route, they were about to cross the street when Lixin saw a child stumble into the streets. A car was fast approaching, he threw himself into the street and grabbed the child by the arm and pushing them out of harms way... but at the cost of his own.
* MK and Jia took his passing so hard, both in different ways. MK was inconsolable for weeks, but thankfully had the support of Mei and the rest of the Monkie Kid crew, but Jia had it just as bad. For a few days she wouldn’t leave her room, she hardly spoke to anyone, didn’t eat, barely slept. MK was the only one who could get close to her. He stayed with all hours of the day, despite her asking to be left alone. The two held each other the entire night, mourning Lixin. They grew closer as time went on and eventually managed to move on, but Jia wouldn’t be able to really move on for a long time.

*GENERAL HEADCANONS

* Lixin was introduced to Pigsy through Tang, then to Sandy through Pigsy.
* Lixin and Tang were friends in high school (of the two of them Lixin was the responsible one)
* MK gets a lot of his personality from Lixin. They are literally that meme of “what a pair of idiots... wait... THOSE ARE MY IDIOTS!”
* Lixin is an only child
* His parents live outside the city (they moved after DBK’s first attack)
* Jia was his first and only relationship
* The book that MK draws in was given to him by Lixin as a birthday present.
* The headband MK wears was also a gift
