Popocatépetl is an active stratovolcano located in the state of Puebla in central Mexico. His name is of Aztec origin and means "Smoky Mountain" and the name is so complicated to pronounce that Mexicans just call him El Popo. The volcano is next to Iztaccíhuatl, an inactive shield volcano that has the Papayo lava dome and it was Popocatepetl that gave rise to the supposed "Smallest volcano in the world", which is actually an extinct geyser in Puebla, called Cuexcomate. Both Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl are volcanoes covered by glaciers on their summits, but that doesn't stop them from being dangerous. In 2017, the Popocatepetl volcano had an eruption that resulted in 330 deaths in nearby towns, which is why climbing this volcano and living so close to it is so dangerous.
