Description
**** Check out my new film everybody! Better than the last! ****A play on the traditional folktales of baby-stealing canines, this film is a short story of theft and punishment, appropriately named “The Consequence”.
This piece is an experimental combination of live animation and paper cutouts. All puppets, sets, and effects were made by hand. I had a really fun time on this one. I had no idea how well my camera would record in a low light situation, so a lot of my time was spent crossing my fingers and hoping everything would turn out ok. Had I known the camera would work so nicely (and not blur things, as I expected it to) I probably would have invested more time in the scenery and puppets to add even more detail to them. They were created simply with the impression that small details wouldn’t be visible through the screen. With that one criticism, I’m very happy with this as my first attempt at planning, filming, editing, and producing an actual film.
This film was included in my portfolio to apply for Experimental Animation at CalArts (and I got in). Seeing how much of a success this turned out to be on such an extremely low budget, I’m looking forward to the films that come after this one that I have more time to invest in. Everyone, cross your fingers for me! I have big plans.
Music by Mikey Kirkpatrick (aka Bird Radio). Much thanks to him for allowing me to use his music for my film. It’s quite beautiful, isn’t it? You can find his website here: [link] Give him a listen. You may be hooked.

Oh my gosh you guys! I thought it was settling down at 15,000 views. The 24 hour front-page bump was over, and now this! A Daily Deviation! Thank you for everyone who recommended it! It's nice to see that people like my work! I can't wait to release my future films!

Well done. You're story idea, the animation, and music are very original. I was actually sort of surprised that the wolf died at the end. I was actually expecting it to live somehow as if it would be forgiven. That, or there would be a consequence for the wolf dying.
Either way, this is an amazing piece of film art you have created with shadow puppets and stick figures. Very creative and original. Keep up the good work. I hope that you attempt to make more shorts like this in the future. The animation industry in general needs more simplicity like this; it makes you feel more emotionally attached to it.

I'm sorry, but I have to call you a genius even when nowadays this word has such a bad connotation. But definitely you are one. No wonder you got in CalArts with this video. It's more than amazing. Personally, I loved the way the wolf moved as the movements in general. Thank you for such an amazing video. ^^

Thank you so much! I really wanted to make movement and integral thing in my film, not just silhouettes on sticks like the traditional shadow puppet.

this reminds me of a story l heard when l was young
A single father comes home to find blood everywhere, searching around he finds he's little child dead with a bite to the neck, he then glances at his dog - covered in blood with a bloody maw. In his grief he shoots the dog and weeps.
Some time later he's neighbour comes and tells him what of the blood trail leading out of his home. The two follow it and find a dead wolf which looks like it fought another animal, a bloody neck looking like the final blow.
The father realizes what has happened. He shot his dog who had done all it can to defend the babe and killed the wolf in the end, returning home like the good dog it was and he shot it.
The story ends with the father burying the dog and baby together saying sorry to the canine"
This movie you did reminded me so much of that story l had to tell it
