so, i like making animal refs for characters in sources i like. so, here's Red from pokemon but he's a ghost!

heres a bit about the AU:
things are more or less the same until red goes to live on mount silver. about a week in giovanni ends up throwing him off of the mountain before bringing his body back up to make it look like he died of frostbite. when blue and green go looking for red and find his body they're devistated. red, who's a ghost now shouts at them to no avail, and his emotions cause a snowstorm to start picking up. blue and green bury him and leave before it gets to bad. red is so distraught an awful blizzard kicks up, nearly stopping them from leaving.

green and blue grieve rather heavily, with green taking the role of champion and blue taking his spot in the viridian city gym. the rely on each other to get through the fact that their best friend (and blue's crush) died way too early.

cut to when gold gets all the badges. blue is rather upset during the battle because of how much gold reminded him of red. he loses and gives him the final badge, and gold decides he wants to go to mount silver, having heard the rumors of how it was a great place to train and that it was supposedly haunted. people try to stop him but he's determined.

when gold enters the cave at the base of mount silver, he sees a ball of electricity (red's pikachu), and he follows after the bouncing figure. he sees red and immediatly unsettled; a teenager who's skin was patchy with frost and who's eyes were constantly pouring tears. he had no mouth. gold is about to run until red turns and begins walking, and gold feels compelled to follow him.

red leads him to his grave, staring down at it with an unreadable expression. gold, of course, assumes he died from frostbite, and when he voices this red swiftly walks closer to him, staring into his eyes and transporting him into red's memories, playing back his murder, when gold/red hits the ground the memory ends. gold's face is pale. he asks what red wants him to do, he wants to help red find peace. red tell him, telepathically, that he needs to find a way to get revenge on his killer. and that he will find 3 who will be important in this journey. red faces the cave wall, and an illusion of silver, kris, and blue appears. gold understands and promises to bring his friends to the cave so they can be brought up to speed. red nods, and has pika lead gold out of mount silver's confusing tunnels.

so, gold gets silver and kris and brings them to red. he shows them the memory as well and silver almost immediately knows its his father, he's pale and shaken and leans on gold to stop from falling over. red sends him a look of sympathy. silver shares the information with his friends.

sometime after, red visits blue in his dream. the dream takes place in a foggy white landscape, cold as ice. blue is both excited and upset to see red. he starts spouting questions, crying as he confronts his best friend. a harsh gust of wind quiets him. red says "there will be three. the brave heir, evil's descendent, and the determined warrior. trust them as they will lead you to the truth." suddenly, the dream changes in a flash of white. blue sees red's death in vivid details and jolts awake in a cold sweat, in tears. he shakily calls green and tells her about his dream.

the next day the johto trio make their way through the gym to try to convince blue to come with them. he yells at them and kicks them out. it takes a few more attempts as well as more... nightmares, i guess? where red visits him. eventually he decides to go with them. red, who has left the cave he's been haunting, leads them to giovanni. blue is skeptical until giovanni admits to killing red.

after this, red becomes a gaurdian spirit to green, blue, and the trio. he threatens those who try to hurt them, the blizzard becoming a well know and rumored omen.
