Boeing C-30B 'Commando' Medium Tactical Cargo Aircraft.
This two engine aircraft uses various design ques from the C-27, the C-130 and Boeing's own C-17 and YC-14.
The aircraft is about the same size as the Lockeed C-130L - buts uses much larger turbo-prop engines. The engines has the same Horsepower as 3 Allison engines of the type used on the C-130.
The C-30 carries a greater load, over longer distances, at Higher speed and less fuel then the Lockheed C-130L.
What if...
Boeing AC-30A 'Enforcer' Gunship. Developed from the MC-30F, both aircraft are based on Boeing's successful C-30B Medium Cargo Aircraft.
Though most of the aircraft is top secret, it is known to carry three gun turrets on the bottom of the airframe.
The turrets, from a AH-64F Apache Helicopter, have been modified to partially retract into the aircraft for landing and while in transit to the target area.
Two of the turrets have the 30mm Chain Gun and the third a 20mm Vulcan Gatling Gun.
The Enforcer also carries four M-2 50 calliber maching guns can be mounted in the observation stations on both sides of the aircraft.
The aircraft is also capable of carrying wing tanks, for added loiter time. Various weapons including JDAMS, SDB can carried on MER's mounted on any of the four wing stations.
The aircraft carries four FLIR turrets, one under the nose on the port side, on the tail, and two larger turrets on the forward end of the landing gear sponsins. The FLIR's are used to find tartgets as well as guiding the gun turrets.
Boeing is currently working on a upgraded version of the Enforcer.
