There's a way to clone items in Blue, and you can imagine what happens when you have an infinite amount of Rare Candys... Also in Silver you can clone Pokemon and the item they're holding along with them /:

You might want to save first. So what you need is an empty box on the computer, in which you put the pokemon you want to clone. Then you change box, and when the text "SAVING... DON'T TURN OFF THE POWER" is being displayed, you do exactly what it tells you not to and TURN OFF. We're bad people like that. When you open the game again, you should have the pokemon you deposited in your party, and when you check the box you put it in, ta-dah! it's also there. You have two of it and of the item it possibly was holding!
