Description I had to write another story about these two.

After thinking about some ideas, and working on the story, I decided to go for a drawing. In this case I went with one of my favorite artists and a good friend of mine, MohMohpd
As you can see, he is an amazing artist. If you are interested, he is open for commissions.

I also have to think my good friend Chum03 for helping me with some corrections. He is also working on some interesting projects, and if you want to support him, here's his Ko-Fi. ko-fi.com/chum0909

Finally, I'm still open for commissions. If you are interested, send me a message. www.deviantart.com/mindtasker/…

Anyways! If you want to know why Phoebe and Steven are so happy to see each other, read the story down below.

AFTER THE RAIN

“Congratulations, Brendan. Now you are the Champion of the Hoenn region,” Steven said while accompanying the trainer with the white hat into the champions room.

Lots of things happened during the last couple of weeks, from seeing a battle between the legendary pokemon known as Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza to the dissolving of Team Aqua and Team Magma. Now that things have become normal again, Steven and the other members of the Elite Four had to continue with their job, testing the challengers that tried to become the new champions of their region.

A few days later, a familiar face appeared. It was Brendan, a young trainer whose family moved from Johto to Littleroot Town in Hoenn thanks to the new job of his father, who became the Gym Leader of Petalburg City. Steven had some encounters with him, even helping him a few times. After each encounter, the steel-type champion was always surprised about his performance.

He knew that Brendan was going to get far, but once Sydney, the first member of the Elite Four told him that the young trainer arrived at Ever Grande City, Steven realized that he couldn’t compare him to the other challengers. After he defeated all the members of the Elite Four, the steel-type champion let him enter into the last room.

Taking a moment to talk with him, mentioning the recent events and how he was surprised about his own abilities, Steven wished Brendan the best in their battle before calling his Skarmory. Just like he expected, the young trainer had a strong and well-balanced team. Even the Pokemon that were defeated made enough damage for the next one to easily beat the other. After an intense battle, Brendan’s final Pokemon defeated Metagross, the ace of Steven. Calling Metagross back into his pokeball, the steel-type champion congratulated Brendan for his victory before he made him enter into the champions room.

Wanting to take a moment to think about the recent events, the elegant guy left the room and went to the roof of the Pokemon League. It was the first time in a long time since a challenger defeated him in an official match. While he wasn’t angry nor bothered by his loss, Steven started thinking about his future and what to do next. Thanks to the recent events, which included him almost dying while helping Brendan and stopping both villainous organizations, the steel-type trainer started to think more about life and decisions.

It wasn’t like he didn’t have plans or options, he was a collector of precious stones and was also part of the Devon corporation, one of the most important companies in the whole region. There was also the option to take some time off, to travel to his hometown of Mossdeep City and enjoy some days where he didn’t have to think about anything but to relax. The idea was quickly dropped, as Steven was someone who liked to be busy.

Brendan’s victory made him realize something, while he enjoyed being the champion and having an important role in the Pokemon League, in the last couple of years he didn’t take time to appreciate time nor the things he liked. This was still far from a bad thing yet Steven couldn't think of something nice. As he continued to remain calm, the elegant guy noticed a Misdreavus flying closer to him.

“There you are!” Turning around, Steven noticed Phoebe coming closer to him. She was an Elite Four trainer that specializes in ghost-type Pokemon and a close friend from Steven. Ever since they met, the two became very close and were always there when the other needed it. While the other Elite Four members left the building, the short-haired woman wanted to see him.  “We were looking for you all over the place.”

Steven smiled, happy to see her. Being so lost into his thoughts, he forgot about Misdreavus, the new Pokemon that Phoebe caught last week. Feeling guilty about it, the elegant guy searched for his pokeblock case to give the cute ghost pokemon a berry. The gesture made Phoebe giggle, always happy to see Steven being nice to all kinds of Pokemon.

“You came here to enjoy the view?” She asked him before looking at the scenery. Even after the recent events, Ever Grande City remained pristine, continuing to be that great place with challengers from all around the region trying to become the new champion. It also reminded Phoebe of her time as a starting trainer, and also her first few days being part of the Elite Four. As she was going through memory lane, she remembered the first encounters she had with Steven and how they became close.

Looking back at him, hoping for a chance to talk about those things, the short-haired gal noticed that his expression changed into a neutral one. At that moment Phoebe knew that something was happening, it wasn’t him being angry about his defeat, he wasn’t like those kinds of people. Steven was someone who respected his opponents and accepted his defeat with grace. Trying to see what it was, she touched him by the shoulder, hoping to get his attention. “Steven?”

After feeling the touch of his friend, Steven looked at her and noticed her worried expression. It wasn’t like he didn’t want to tell her how he felt, it was the opposite. Him and Phoebe were always honest with each other, only hiding things related to good surprises. They also helped the other when someone had any issues, and by the way Phoebe was looking at him she felt that something bad was happening.

“I know you, you aren’t angry about your defeat. Is there something bothering you? You can tell me, everything will be fine,” the short-haired gal said while coming closer to him. Feeling guilty for making her feel worried, Steven hugged her tightly. The gesture of her friend made Phoebe blush slightly, not expecting this kind of reaction from him. This was enough for the short-haired gal to confirm her suspicions, but instead of asking him what was happening, she remained quiet, and simply enjoyed the hug.

Being his closest friend, Steven tried to think of a way to express how he felt, how the idea about moving on was becoming something difficult and how it made him feel down. The only thing that was stopping him, apart from the hard time thinking about the way to explain, was that he didn’t want to worry Phoebe, he already felt guilty for his actions and didn’t want to make the same mistake. Once he stopped hugging her Steven looked at her while smiling before he walked closely to where he was before as he wanted to look at the scenery again.

“In the last couple of weeks a lot of things happened, and while we saw the battle of the legendary Pokemon, the thing that surprised me the most was Brendan. You were right about him,” he said with a light chuckle. He was talking about the conversations she had with Phoebe after he met Brendan. While he was the only one that interacted with him, it was Phoebe that suggested keeping an eye on the young trainer since she felt that he was different from the others.

The short-haired gal smiled, glad to see that his dear friend was fine. She remembered those conversations, how Steven quickly agreed with her plans and how after each encounter the two would talk about what happened. Just thinking about it reminded them about the time where they started on their own adventure, how they were young and hoped to achieve their dreams of becoming a Pokemon champion.

Each time they talked about the past, one of them mentioned how they met. All started after Phoebe became the new member of the Elite Four, which happened not so long after Steven became the new Champion of the region. Being that both were the newest members of the group, they became close. Thinking about their moments together made him feel better, finally having a good moment after overthinking. While good, he still felt guilty and wanted to apologize to his friend.

“I’m sorry for scaring you. I was just thinking about where to go next and I got a bit scared. It wasn’t my intention,” he said while looking at her. Steven felt that it wasn’t enough but Phoebe quickly assured him that it was fine and that she understood those feelings. Unlike her role as an Elite Four member, once the Champion was defeated they were released from their role, unless they would try to go for a rematch.

Of course, Steven didn’t have any plans on going for a rematch, but he still wanted to concentrate on other things. Finally getting to know what was happening, Phoebe decided to try to cheer him up while also helping him with his plans. She was aware that the first few days were going to be difficult, he was going to have a new routine and there might be moments where the feelings of Steven might take a toll on him.

While thinking of an idea, the short-haired gal pulled out a premiere ball and gave it to Steven. The elegant guy held it but still wasn’t sure what Phoebe was trying to do. Nonetheless, he decided to wait for what his friend would say, feeling that it was the least he could do after his reaction.

“Maybe you should try to catch a new Pokemon, bringing a new face to your team would be nice. It helped me with Misdreavus, even though we had a rough start,”  Phoebe said cheerfully. Her idea sounded good, while he liked his team and the other Pokemon that he had, the idea of getting a new Pokemon was perfect, he could even try to search for a fossil. Thinking about it made him smile, finally getting a happier thought, one that didn’t include him being worried or anything that would come close to that.

Phoebe and Misdreavus were glad to see that their plan worked, he felt better and was looking forward to not only this but also other things that might come. Steven wasn’t the champion anymore, but that wasn’t an issue. If there was an issue, he trusted that his dear friend would be there for him. Suddenly, he got an idea, something that might be good for not only him but to the two.

“I think that…at the end of the week I’ll go to Meteor Falls. There are some Pokemon there and I might also find one or two precious stones…would you like to come with me?” Steven said calmly. It was the first time he ever asked her to come to one of his explorations, something he never asked before since he wasn’t sure if Phoebe would like to spend her day searching for rocks in a cave.

To his surprise, Phoebe smiled before nodding her head, the signal that she was on with anything Steven wanted to do. The short-haired gal didn’t accept because she felt sorry for him, she was really interested in the idea and wanted to have some quality time with him. Phoebe also hoped that later there could be the chance of inviting him to Mt.Pyre, the place where she usually went to see ghost-type Pokemon.

“Wherever you go, I’ll be by your side,” the pretty gal stated before holding his hand. She was smiling and her eyes were shining while she looked at the handsome guy. His happiness and well-being were very important to her, and even if he would have issues Phoebe would try to be by his side.

Steven felt lucky to have someone like her in his life, someone that would help him not feeling scared or alone. The elegant guy was so happy that he came closer to Phoebe and gave her a kiss on the cheek. The short-haired gal did a light chuckle while she blushed, liking the gesture of Steven. She enjoyed it so much that she came even closer to him and leant on him.

“If you want, we could discuss some ideas now. Let’s go to a calmer place and maybe get some hot chocolate. Does that sound like a good plan to you?” She asked while he nodded, loving the idea of going out with her. With no other trainers that wanted to fight or his bad thoughts affecting him, Steven and Phoebe left the roof, not before telling Misdreavus to come with them.

The elegant guy might have lost his title as the Champion of the region, and while he was going to have a hard time turning his life around, he wasn’t going to be alone. With him was a nice and caring woman, someone who would remind him about how good life was and would give him ideas about where to move on. This day was very emotional, going from being normal to happy and then to being downhearted to happy again.

He had a lot of time to decide what he wanted to do next, but for now the only thing that he hoped to do was to have some quality time with Phoebe.
