Description I saw ~yuno 's beautiful photo Korana , and I knew I had to draw it. Thank you so much Tina for the inspiration and for allowing me to do this! I got sucked into the atmosphere of the picture. It reminds me of when a friend and I were students. We'd put our peacoats on, and our lipstick and messenger bags. Then we would go at 2am to have wedding soup and to talk and to laugh. I miss her.

I really like how this turned out. I think it's my best piece. It has the look and feel that intended for it when I started. I think that I've been too cautious lately with my drawings, but this one is different.

Done in Opencanvas. Submitted for Raster ch13.

this one caught my eye, the atmosphere of it is specifically interesting and feels like real life but is still kind of abstract. I cant help but think of what its like when it has just rained at night in a city

this is the first of I'm sure many favorites of your pieces I will find while i'm catching up with you. You were busy!
I love the backround, it has a definite depth to it with the blurryness that even the photo doesnt capture. The subject is much more intense and captivating making it a real peice of art not just a beautifull painting. i love i love!

I know I'm quite late

I saw this at Raster when the last chapter came out, and I completely loved it. I'm glad to see you're commited to push further your style, taking more risks and puting more of yourself in your paintings. Still this is a painting of a photo, but I see your intention was much wider than just mimicking it.

The overall mood is quite the same, with those blurred lights in the background, and the dirty wall behind her. Your blurred lights are somewhat dimmer, and I understand that's because you wanted all the attention focused on her face. And I suppose that's why you added a much harder light on her, with all those warm colors, as if she was illuminated by the flames of a nearby fire. And there's where your work really stands out. The expression of your model is much richer, much more powerful, much more melancholic. Where the original woman seem to be thinking "I better don't move or this photo will be ruined", I can imagine your woman thinking "Will you still be there when I'll take a look at this photo ten years from now?", or something like "Do I really mean something for you?".

Well, what else can I say... This is just wonderful. I'm sorry it took me so long to drop by and comment.

i love the warm colors of her with the cold outsides. the background is very nice. im impressed with how well you presented a blurry feel with drawing... i can never quite get that down however this has taught me a pointer or two. i just love the atmosphere of it. a good city-at-night feel which is what i love.

Wow this is a stunning adaption and stylisation of the original photo. You adapted it very well, but you also understood to make more out of it. I like especially the way you designed the backround. You succeeded in creating this urban "always moving" atmosphere, cuz all seems out of focus and fast there. In opposite to this the person to the front is very calm and very sharp. She stands directly in the main focus position and all seems to be concentrated just on her. You even exaggerated this effect by enforcing the depth impression on her face. Especially her eyes seem very deep. This looks like the whole scene is just stopping for her and like you wanted to keep that moment at this point. You even played with the colour for this result. The backround colour is a bit bless, but the colour on the girl is just intensive. Can't say if this is your best one ( cuz you've got so many good stuff here ), but it's surely one of your best works. Also if some think this is very photo like I don't think so. It has the momently impression of the photo but it's conciously abstracted in every detail and I like that, cuz it shows all your great drawing and painting abilities. I would add this to my favs, but I just added another piece and you have already so many favs on your other works and I'm not the person who adds one fav close to the other. So even if I don't add it to favs it is one.

Mmm... Those thick strokes are so characteristic of your style; they give the whole piece a soft, yet solid, and very inviting feel.
*reads that sentence again* Erm, did that make sense?
Anyhoo, it looks like it was a very expressive photo, and you've rendered it beautifully. Yet again. And that's arguably the coolest background you've done.
Say, the face looks a little asymmetrical... But, who cares? (Did anyone tell Van Gogh if his proportions were off? )
Inspiringness.

as i already told you, this is fantastic and i am SO flattered that you chose to work on my photo, thank you endlessly. It's a truely amazing piece of work now.

And the name you gave it is perfect too. it looks even more like it in YOUR version cos her eyes are bigger and sort of sadder here, her face is more expressionate.

i love it.

and thank you.

Very nicely done...your marks feel more free and confident in this one than previous works, and it gives it a bit more of a painterly feel. It's great to see you working with a background too...we know you can do portraits, maybe it's time to work more with backgrounds.

This IS very different from your usual perfect-looking, beautiful girls. I love the depth of her eyes, and the wear you can see on her face. . . I dig the asymetry of the face, and the dark circles under her eyes. Very nice.

You did a wonderful job with the background also.

This is far more REAL than your other works (as far as capturing every-day folks). . . I wanna see more.

Oh, and your description. . . sigh. . . me too.

Mmm. I like how the background detail is suggested rather than drawn in detail.

The figure is perfect, except for the chin and jawline, where the shading doesn't suggest a 3d form as much as the other parts of her face.

Overall, a pretty picture indeed
