It's very clear that despte everything, Erma doesn't care one thing about her apperance in contrary to her father (whom she haven't met by the way). However, Anastasia, being the mother she is, wants to help out Erma with her social issues and decide that the cause of it was her apperance. So she gave Erma a rainbow ring that can change her colors to that of a typical shiny Eevee while also fixing her deformed ear. However, this is only temporally as when Erma turns it off, she will reform backed into her previous looks. Erma only uses it during special gatherings and events to not be seen as a outcast, though being a Shiny Eevee regardless of deformity doesn't help her case.
