Description
Steeds from the RPG book for George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.I was bored and wanted to draw equines. Plus, I love drawing muscles, hooves, and hair, so there you go.
Download view is best. Original's 5765px, full is 1600px.
Mounts:
Mule - For riding and as a pack animal
Pony - Mount for noble children
Sand Steed - Light swift steed found in Dorn, in warmth
Garron - Sure footed and hardier for colder climates
Destrier - Very expensive, heavy, and high spirited knight's steed, mostly used for jousting
Courser - A (nobles/knights?) war horse, lighter than a destrier and less expensive. I may have accidentally made the courser a bit smaller in comparison to the others than I should have. oops.
Palfrey - As expensive as a destrier, but calmer, and used as a noble's riding horse
Rounsey - War steed of non-nobles and hedge knights
Stot - Draft horse for farm work

(Breyer guides are great to have around for quick pose references. There's a large selection of poses of equines and sometimes a few other animals. Even better if you happen to have a few of their horses, even cheap, scuffed up ones.)

Glad I found this! I was just thinking what a cool idea it would be if someone compared all of the horses used in Martin's novels. Great job! I love it.

Wow, I had no idea so many kinds of horses existed, nor did I know they were all so specialized. I'll definitely have an image to keep in my head now when Martin talks about different steeds.

Wow... I didn't know there are so much words for 'horse' in English....
By the way, you did a great job!

Thanks. ^^
They're mostly archaic terms. The story world they're for is set in a medieval sort of time, I so guess that's why they use those particular words.
