When you're working with fleece or any other stretchy fabric, it's important to pay attention to the direction of the stretch and cut out your pattern pieces accordingly.

When I sew Scoops, I cut out the pieces so that the stretch is vertical. This results in a tall, thin Scoop with a flared base. I was making the orange one on the left yesterday, and I thought it'd be interesting to see how the Scoop shape would change if I cut one out so that the stretch went horizontal instead. The result was the round, squatty guy on the right. Two Scoops, each cut from the same pattern and sewn identically. The orange fleece I'm working with right now has a little more stretch than usual, so the difference was especially dramatic.

I like them both.
