Chapter 1

Date : January 30th, 2008.
Time : around midnight.

It was a typical night dark and silent outside, But you could still hear some giggling and whispers from the girls' room. Lyric and Nevaeh were twin sisters and they were also each other's best friends. Tonight Lyric wasn't feeling comfortable. Her gut said there was trouble boiling up for them. Nevaeh couldn't stop giggling over her stupid school pranks that she pulled on Mr. Noah Ryker, their Maths teacher.
"Huh, Nevaeh can't you feel it?"
"Feel what Lyric?"
"The upsetting silence, like its before a storm."
Nevaeh merely gave her a knowing glance that stated you're at it again. Lyric and Nevaeh were genetic-identical twins. It was impossible to tell one from the other. Unless you knew how they dressed up. Lyric wore gothic clothes and Nevaeh was preppy in her selection. This helped their parents sought which girl was which. Lyric snapped her laptop shut and glared at her twin.
Lyric thought why couldn't her twin sister get what she was going through.

5 years ago, Lyric had developed special attachment to that special someone. And it was then her power had started to fade.
Lyric and Nevaeh had thier respective powers.
Nevaeh had a power known as Empathy and Psychometry. Her power made her able to read or sense the emotions and/or control the emotions or feelings of others and to relate details about the past or future condition of an object or location, usually by being in close contact with it. Where as Lyric has other magical powers. Lyric had an abilty to manipulate time. She could affect the flow of time by slowing, accelerating, reversing, or stopping it. But eversince she had fallen in love 5 years ago she had to work hard to keep it effective. Similarly the power of Omnipresence, which made her able to be present anywhere and everywhere always was getting ineffective as well. Maybe Love was a cancellation force for all the powers. Or it effected the cells that controlled the power-part of brain.
The Girls used their powers occasionally to help others out or sometimes when they were upset they would try doing nasty things because they werent no Goody-old-shoes heroines, who did no evil to others. They were normal beings who reacted on instincts and behaved as a normal human would.

Introduction : Family History

Season : Spring
Late 80s

Thomas Glew and Faith Haggen graduated in 1988 from the same science school and had been going out for the last 3 years. In 1989 they got married in a small marriage ceremony held in a town Chruch. Mr. and Mrs. Glew were scientists by profession and they had specialised in Gene manipulation. They had decided to experiment their engineering of the genes on their own baby. Thomas and Faith worked hard to invent an injectable suspension that was expected to make the baby inherit Omniscience, which is believed to be an abilty which enables the beholder to know anything and everything. The Glews had desired for a baby who would have Superhuman Intelligence, and when the baby grew up it would help his parents unveil the secrets of living organisms. The orangish green suspension was injected into the mating partners. As a result Faith did get pregnant but the bad news was that she was pregnant with twins and Glews had no idea how the Power-Suspension would work on two growing babies. On April 22nd, 1990 Thomas and Faith had identical-twin-daughters. They named them Lyric Zebila Glew and Nevaeh Zebila Glew. The proud parents were so over-whlemed with thier babies that they had forgotten about the experimant they had carried out. It wasnt until weeks that the thought of the Power-suspension crossed their minds again.
"Honey, do you see any signs of super intelligence in the girls?"
"I'm afraid I don't Thomas, and amazingly now I don't want to."
"Why not?"
"Because."
"Faith I'm waiting for an interesting arguement here."
"Don't know hon, can't say, but i don't want our babies to be a part of some experiment that might blow their brains off."
"We had gone through this before, and we both knew the risk we were putting ourselves and our baby into when we decided to go along with it."
Faith looked past her husband. For the first time ever since she had met him, she felt that he was a stranger. Why couldn't he understand that their girls were far too precious to be involved in this dangerous exercise. She got up and walked to the window and stared up into the space. Her face didnt gave away much of her bitter emotions, but her eyes were distant and sad. Thomas walked up to her and hugged her from the back, and whispered, " Fay, we can't quit now, we know the power-suspension was not wasted and it would show the effects sooner or later, why exhauste energies in hoping otherwise. Lets just hope its something we and the girls would be able to deal with."
Faith turned around smiled at him and rested her head on his chest and mumbled, " I would let nothing effect our daughters. And you it. The power of love would cancel all the Artifical-power-injections. I love them enough to make it die out."
Thomas kissed the top of her head and said, " No Fay, until the girls are submissive to the love it wouldn't work."

Thomas guided her to the bed they needed rest, tommoro they would start working on the anti-power pills. Probably that would make his Fay feel better.

What they didnt know was that the Anti-power-pill wasnt going to work. The parental love wasn't able enough to destroy the Power that was growing within each twin and above all if they power died with-in either of the twins so would the heart. It was a no win situation now. It was going to take time but Thomas and Faith would realise that what trouble had they gotten themselves into.

Year : 1997
Scene : Faith sitting on a couch drowned in deep thought. Her husband was standing near the fire-place munching on a packet of morning cereals and reading a recently conducted research on cloning of believed vampirish qualities.

"Thomas"
It was a mere statement. She didn't have anything to say. All she wanted right now was for him to talk to her. To make her believe that the mess would settle soon.

They had tired all the possible chemically manufactured potions, pills what not but nothing seemed to work on the girls. They had started seeing the signs of power in both the girls. They were 7 years old and did almost magical stuff; But the parents didn't understand it. They hadn't worked for yje powers they saw now. The twins showed no signs of super-intelligence but they displayed rather interesting qualities. It freaked Faith out and annoyed Thomas.

"Fay, Denial is what you're suffering from."
Thomas didn't look up.
"Denial to what?"
"You know, about the girls, Fay the test results show that if one girl loses the power, other would lose her soul. They're genetically connected at some wave-length, that we are unable to understand currently. And do you know what a lost soul would mean?"
"I dont WANT to know, please." Faith's plead was meek. She avoided this topic, but at times she got restless and wanted to know, know the fate that her daughters were destined for.
Thomas ignored Faith's request and went on as if he didn't hear her.
"Losing soul would mean our baby would be like the furniture in a room. She would be physically present but wouldn't respond, feel or recognise anything. She would be worse then dead."

Faith was silently crying. As Thomas went on, " Fay we have to be careful, we have to restrict and monitor that love doesn't cross our daughter's path and harm them beyoond mending. And we have to let their powers grow. They would prosper, do wonders, we both know it. And our daughters are clever, they know the rule of secrecy. They are cautious about concealing their powers."

With that Thomas got up and walked out of the room. Faith wept for a while and then cleaned up went to the kitchen, girls would be home anytime now, she had to prepare lunch for them."
