The Introduction: So You Wanna Write a WG Fiction?
Hello there! I'm Miss Fan and I've been writing Weight Gain fanfiction for three years. Yes, three years, mainly for the wonderful Anime and Manga: Hetalia or Hetalia: Axis Powers. I sound awfully cringey don't I? Oh well, that's life. In my three years of writing, not writing and then writing again I've learned a thing or two about the subject. Mind you this is from a female's perspective, so keep it in mind while reading this. I mainly wrote this for my own reference, but I thought that maybe some of you could use this as well. I hope you find it helpful somehow.

The Backbone: The Plot.
You simply cannot have a story period without plot and structure of some sort. Even the worst stories I’ve read had a plot. James Scott Bell had an awesome way of doing plot outlines. It’s called the LOCK system.

Lead: We need someone to cheer for, cry for, to empathize with. In the case of this tutorial there are two major leads to choose from: The Feeder or The Feedee. Make them someone interesting, or if you’re doing fan-fiction like I am, choose your favorite! There’s plenty to choose from.

Example: Tom is a nice lad who’s trying to make a living in his new bakery.

Objective: Now, your lead must have something they need and a plan on how to get it. Yes, even in romantic, erotic WG fan fictions with the hot sex. What does your lead need? A romantic relationship is a common objective of the lead in romance stories.

Example: Tom wants a relationship with a customer named Donna. He finds that she has a sweet tooth so, he woos her with free sweets.

Conflict: A plot needs someone and/or something blocking the way. Otherwise, it’s boring. Here you introduce the villain or something that stands in the way of our couple’s happiness like societal pressures or your terrible mother-in-law. Maybe it’s the feeders drug habit? The best stories have the best understandable villainous forces.

Example: Tom’s mother doesn’t like that Donna is over a size ten. Tom’s mother is pressuring her to go on a diet for her health.

Knockout: This is where things get awesome. This is the big, bad ass, happy or super sad moment of your story. Make this one count. Make it tense up until this point and then BAM! hit your reader in the kisser. Make it a twist if you’d like.

Example: Tom proposes to Donna in front of his disapproving mother. Donna says yes and the two get married in Jamaica, without his mother.

That’s really all there is two it. Fill out the LOCK and there you go you have a plot outline my friend! A full story outline is a lot like LOCK except you fill in the blank spots of your story and elaborate. That’s all there is to it really.

The Numbers Game: How Much and When?
I bet you’re wondering: How much weight can my character gain?Humans normally gain around 15 pounds a month. However, this is fiction so we can take some artistic liberties. I like to say around 25-35 pounds a month. So, time for math!

Say your character weights X pounds. You want them to gain around Y pounds. How long will it take? Here’s how you figure it out.

(X+Y)/35 = ?? Months
Now just pop in the numbers and solve the equation!

(100+175)/35 = 9 Months*
*If you get a decimal, repeating decimal or just random numbers, round up from the nearest tenth.

Now, you don’t have to mention any numbers in your fiction, this is just a good reference for you, the writer, when describing the various changes throughout the course of the story. The biggest mistake I made was not making these calculations ahead of time and having them gain like 25 pounds overnight.

Food Porn: Use a Thesaurus.
Weight gain happens when you consume more calories than you burn. Thus, if that is correct, food is essential to weight gain. One thing I’ve learned is if you cannot describe the food binges, it’s not half as entertaining. So! Make food porn a cornerstone.

One thing that always helps is references for various foods, and usually I pick a theme. Italian, Chinese, and Americana are common, or something by flavor or texture like sweets, or greasy foods. The options are endless.

Now describe, describe for your life! Colors, consistencies, textures, flavors, everything! Break out your thesaurus and have a freaking field day with it.

Fan-Service: Take your Picks.
Make no mistake: This is why you decided to write this kind of fiction. For the fatty fan service! Now, the key is to have a list to reference so you don’t use the same ones over and over again.

Here are just some examples:

  • Tummy rubs
  • Overeating/stuffing
  • Getting stuck/breaking things
  • Popping buttons, breaking zippers, and other clothing damage.
  • Messy eating/eating without utensils.
  • Messing around with fat: Slapping, pinching, poking, grabbing, squeezing, massaging.
  • Belly kisses
  • Belly pats
  • Waddling
  • Fat examination
  • Exercise fatigue
  • Jiggling/Wobbling
  • Stomach growls
  • Begging for more/bargaining for food
  • Sneaking food
  • Shirts rolling up
  • Visible stretch marks
  • Breaking the scale/Zeroing out the scale
  • Weighing
  • Fat distribution (Pear vs Apple shape)
  • Hiccups from eating too fast
  • Moaning while eating or after
This list could go on for freaking eternity, but basically there’s your list. I like to have this for reference when I’m writing scene outlines and try to insert just a bit of fan service every couple of scenes or so. Don’t have them every second though, it gets annoying.

The Four Archetypes: Feeder.
There are four main types of people who like bigger people. I say four for simplicity sake, most likely there are more that just haven’t come out of the proverbial closet yet. Pick one and flesh it out to become your character.

The Average: Name is the descriptor here. They have no weight gain fetish or preference or anything. They just happen to love their partner who is gaining weight.

The Closeted: They love larger people, and may want them even larger, but will never admit to it. They may or may not be in denial about it. A fun character to work with when their partner starts gaining.

The Admirer: This person loves larger people. This is the FA type. They like their larger partner just the way they are. Large. This doesn’t mean they want them any bigger.

The Feeder: The names says it all. This person loves their large partner and wants their partner larger! They encourage weight gaining behaviors. This doesn’t mean it’s all sunshine and rainbows with their relationship, however.

The Five Archetypes: Feedee.
I say only five, just as an oversimplification of a complex thing such as human sexuality, but what do you want out of me? Pick one of these archetypes and flesh it out into your second character.

The Average: They’ve gained weight, but they either A: Don’t notice or are B: in denial about it. General view weight gain as minor and ignore it.

The Dieter: They’ve been on every diet in the world and haven’t lost a pound. Maybe it’s the chronic snacking habit? Or just genes? They generally hate the weight gain and try to stop it.

The Lazy: This person would go on a diet, but they like food too much. Plus, that would require work. They typically don’t have many feelings about the weight, and might even like it.

The Bigger: This person has been fat all their life so what is a little more weight going to do? Often portrayed as a big eater, fat and proud among other tropes.

The Feedee: This person gains pleasure from weight gain. They can be fat and proud, happy in their skin, and still desire for more. Most often portrayed as closeted until they gain weight.

Relationship Control: Power Play.
Now another part of this relationship is this: how is the power distributed? Who wears the pants? Mainly, for simplicity sake again, there are three types:

-Dominant Feeder, Submissive Feedee (Most common, easy to write.)
Example: Dominate mothering feeder stuffs submissive feedee.

-Dominant Feedee, Submissive Feeder (My Favorite)
Example: Feedee demands food from a submissive feeder.

-Shared Power/Switches (Difficult to write, but fun.)
Example: They switch roles time to time.

If you’re just starting out I recommend trying a Dominant feeder, submissive feedee power distribution just because of how many other writers have done so. But, if you want a challenge: Do both with the same couple! If you dare.

Feedings and/or Stuffings: Erotic Eating.
Oh boy here is the best part. I would know, I love writing these scenes. You can be as subtle or up front as you would like about this, you can have a woman eating and eclair like a dick or whatever your little heart desires.

What’s the difference between the two? Here’s my interpretation:

Feeding is just normal eating, except your partner helps. The amount of food is irrelevant, and is often more drawn out as far as time goes.

Stuffing is when there is a large amount of food in a short period of time that may or may not be fed to them by their partner. Solo stuffings are common.

With that in mind, here are some helpful little tips that you can either use or discard at your leisure.

1. Know who is in power here. If the Feedee is dominant, they’re gonna be the one controlling what food and how much in what way and when. Don’t make them submissive just because their getting fed. If a solo stuffing occurs, remember this also.

2. Keep it simple. There is no need to do research on fifty different ways of saying stuffed or full. We all know what you’re trying to say, trust the reader’s intelligence.

3. Teasing is fun. Having the more dominant tease the more submissive is always fun in my book. Making them beg or bargain is awesome as well. If the partner isn’t involved: Self-deprecation can be a bit sexy if done right.

4. Pull out all the fan service stops here. Describe every little roll, jiggle, hiccup and moan. Your readers will love it.

5. It doesn’t have to end with sex/masturbation. The erotic nature of a good feeding/stuffing scene stands on it’s own.

Fan-fiction Writers: A Special Note.
If you are writing a weight gain fan-fiction, I’m talking with you specifically in the section. Please always tag your stuff with WG or Weight Gain whether it be in the summary or the authors notes. I know it’s a good fiction but not everyone is into seeing their favorite character gain weight.

Also, if you use author notes: make them short and sweet. If you need to explain it in the authors notes, you didn’t explain it enough in the fiction. That’s my rule of thumb. Also, don’t insert notes as chapters or as little tags in the middle of the story. It’s not fun for the readers, trust me I’ve been on both sides.

Most importantly, and not the least, use references! Use the fandom’s wiki pages! There is no shame in looking it up or heck even re-watching episodes just for your fan-fic. It’s not cheating. Visit the TV Tropes website page for your fandom too. It helps a lot.

Tip: try to find a character that is already a big eater or has been through a diet episode to work on first. They are easy pickings.

Final Notes: A Nice Goodbye.
Well, I think I’ve prattled on enough about something today. Here I leave you with just a few tidbits of encouragement.

Kinks are a strangely normal part of human sexuality. You’re not weird or anything like that. Besides, you’re among friends. Tons of friends.

If you get strong hate just because your fiction involves some sort of weight gain, disregard it completely and keep doing what you’re doing. If you get commissions for writing WG, great! Keep going!

Most importantly, have fun with it! Writing isn’t suppose to stress you out. It’s suppose to make you happy. If something just isn’t working, just get rid of it.
