It's not anywhere At Mrs. Hudson's.
It's not next to the bathroom sink.
Not in the kitchen either.

It was on your hand last night when you went to bed. But not there this morning.
You'd lost it. It's gone.
The stupid little silver band.
The stupid little silver band you had to practically beg for.

You'd lost your wedding ring. You spent six months begging Sherlock for a proper wedding with rings and a white dress, and here you are two months later crawling around Baker street looking for your wedding ring.
You can't have lost it.

"(y/n), what are you doing?"
You bolted up hitting your head off the coffee table in the process.
"Nothing."
"It's impossible for you to be doing nothing. You're constantly doing something whether you realizes it or not. You're breathing and blinking an-"
"Okay, okay I get it! I'm looking for something."
"Ooo, my specialty. Want some help."
"Nahh, it's fine." You tell him putting your hands behind your back. "It wasn't anything important. I'll find it when I find it."
"I don't know considering you actually got down on your knees in front of a jewelry store and begged me to give you a 'proper' wedding and a ring, I'd say this," he says pulling your wedding ring out of his coat pocket "Is fairly important."
"Oh, Sherlock!" You grin hugging him and letting him slip the ring back on your finger. "You had it all along."
"Yes." he smirks "I needed it for an experiment."
"What kind of experiment?"
"Nothing too important"
you only nod snuggling into him happy that you've got your ring again.

"Really though, what was the experiment?"
"I wanted to see how long it takes the average woman to realize she's lost her wedding ring." he pauses when his phone goes off. "speak of the devil."
"SHERLOCK HOLMES WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THIS TIME? WHERE'VE YOU PUT MARY'S RING? I KNOW IT WAS YOU THAT TOOK IT...." you can hear John through the speaker and you only laugh.
"Pick up some milk while you're out yeah?"
he nods heading out the door his phone pressed to his ear. "Do calm down John, it was a tiny experiment- Yes, I do think you're over reacting."
