Description
“Do you have any idea what are you actually doing?”“Not really. I’ve never actually been the one directly confronting people.”
Altrea tightened her gloves as she did some low stretches. It was going to be her first match here since arriving at her new school. She wasn’t a member of this club. But because of the school rules, it was possible for interaction between her and the club members. As long as she didn’t interfere with any of the competitive team members progress, she was free to hang out around them as much as possible.
As she finished the last of the warm up, she along with her second left for the ring, where their opponent was already inside awaiting them.
Kei had her long green hair tied into a braid. She wore a simple choice of clothing. Black sports bra and black shorts along with black boxing gloves. Altrea chose a similar set of clothing with just different colours. Her sports bra was green while her shorts were white. Her gloves were of the same colour.
“Let’s have a good fight?”
“It would be easier to take you seriously if you could speak with more confidence.”
“I know.”
Altrea knew that Kei was a girl who had lost most of her matches and that she wasn’t very strong, but she also heard a lot about how she was recommended and praised for her talents. The results she displayed didn’t match what people said about her. She was very curious about this, and decided the best way to do so was to fight her head on.
“You should be able to beat her if you don’t lose focus. Take your time, she’s not too good with drawn out fights.”
Aine reminded her from her corner.
“I’m not that good with it myself either.”
Altrea muttered quietly to herself as she and her opponent walked closer towards each other. Having studied her opponent, Altrea was already aware of some of her bad habits and weakness.
Because there were some reasons behind this fight, it was unofficial and didn’t follow the standard rules of the three judges. The scoring system was removed because of it. Both girls would just fight until one of them either gave up or couldn’t fight anymore.
The two girls bumped fists lightly before Aine rang the bell.
Immediately the two stepped back.
Kei attacked first with a series of fast jabs. Though Altrea was quick to get her guard up, she was peppered with a few jabs that slipped past her guard and hit her in the face.
“She’s faster than I thought.”
Altrea closed one eye as she analyzed her opponent’s moveset. The silver hair girl ducked and weaved while covering her face. She was soon quick to realized something.
Kei’s move was repetitive and she could punish her for that.
Quickly leaping back, she repositioned herself. Kei attacked with the same pattern, but Altrea reacted first, she thrust her leg forth and kicked her opponent in the stomach.
“Don’t use the same pattern!’
Reina her second warned her as Kei backed away in pain.
“Don’t lower your stance!”
Reina’s warning came to late as Altrea fired off a few jabs onto her opponent’s face. All of which hit directly until she put her guard up. Altrea backed away quickly, not wanting to get carried away.
The elf thought quickly and went on the offensive. She threw several light jabs at her opponent who blocked them all. Quickly she raised her right leg and threw a high kick to her opponent’s head.
She heard her opponent grunted as she blocked the kick. Quickly, she pulled back and readied another kick. Kei reacted too quickly and tried to block it, thinking it was another high kick. However Altrea kicked her by her hips instead.
She heard her opponent grunt painfully as her legs shook.
Altrea readied herself for another kick, but Kei lashed with a straight punch that hit her in the temple, causing her cry out painfully as she hastily stepped back. Altrea shook her head to clear her vision.
Her opponent was on the move as soon as she did. Kei attacked with a left followed by a right hook, which Altrea dodged by stepping back towards the sides. She countered with a right hook that nailed Kei in the cheeks.
Kei retaliated with a sudden low kick to her knees.
Grunting in pain, Altrea barely managed to stop herself from collapsing, but left herself open for a swift left and right punch to her face.
Ducking underneath the third punch, Altrea countered with an uppercut to her opponent’s belly. The fey spat out saliva as she doubled back.
The two woman examined the other in silence for a moment before they went on the attack again.
Kei was mostly on the offensive, pressuring Altrea with swift punches and the occasional kicks, while Altrea defended mostly and countered whenever a chance presented itself. The process would repeat itself until the last minute when things took a turn.
As Kei threw a kick to Altrea’s stomach, the elf countered with by grabbing onto her leg before throwing her back towards the turnbuckle. Trapped in the corner, Altrea recklessly attacked with different kinds of punches.
Kei protected herself as best she could, covering her face and her body with her arms as she desperately struggled to break free from the corner. However this reaction was what Altrea was looking for.
Grabbing onto her arms, she spread them apart as she drove her knee into her opponent’s belly.
Kei’s eyes in shock as Altrea pulled her knee back and repeated the process several more times before releasing her.
As she struggled to deal with the pain, Altrea followed up with an uppercut to her chin.
The girl’s head snapped upwards as she spit out saliva. Her legs wobbled before she fell onto her back.
“Down!”
Aine called out from the side. Altrea backed away as her second did the countdown. She watched silently as Reina encouraged Kei to get up, while Aine continued to count. It reached the seven count before Kei stood up.
With only a few seconds left into the first round, Altrea played it safe and chose to stay away. Her opponent had the same idea and ultimately nothing happened.
Aine rang the bell once the round was over and both parties retreated to their respective corners.
“How are you feeling?”
Aine passed her some water to drink and a small pack of ice to nurse some minor swelling.
“Fine, It’s only been the first round, but I think I was doing pretty well.”
Altrea winced as she felt Aine press the ice against her cheeks. Though the pain faded quickly and she could resume speaking once more.
“She’s hits harder and faster than I expected. It’s almost hard to think that she’s consider the biggest loser in this club.”
“Keyword almost, that means you notice something right?”
“Yeah, she’s impulsive, and her moves are easy to read. Even after I countered her attacks, she repeats them. She doesn’t do more than the same method of attack for reasons I don’t know. They are pretty basic which is why it’s easy to avoid and counter. Her power and speed makes her a threat at first but after getting used to it, it becomes easy to deal with. Still have to be weary when she lashes out on instinct, she got a few good shots in. Now that I got an understanding, I think I’ll be more aggressive in the next round.”
“If this was a scoring system, you probably would be in the lead with a good amount.”
“But it’s not. The only way to win would be to knock her out or get her to give up. I can continue to fight the same way in the next round if nothing significant changes. Hopefully I can end this quickly. I know my stamina doesn’t compare to most of my opponents, so the sooner we end this the better.”
Aine would have spoke more, but time was almost up. The second round was about to begin.
