Description
I apologize in advance for the difficult pattern... I designed and constructed most of it at 2 in the morning two consecutive days... I also forgot to include ear-patterns, but they should be the easiest part of this. But once you get it done, it's a cute little 'lemur' (I say 'lemur' because I nicknamed it the munchkin lemur... it's legs are kinda.... short)*NOTE* This is a pattern meant for 2 colors, one light, one dark. You can use more, but this is the basic idea: body bottom and odd-numbered tail pieces are light. Head, body back, and even-numbered tail pieces are dark. There will be two pieces per ear, one light and one dark.
Construction
1. sew together each side of the tail (1 is the open end, 6 is the tip)
2. Sew sides of tail together
3. the head is tricky: sew the blue- and green-marked edges together
4. Cut out 4 small triangles (whatever size you feel is right for the ears) They should be wider than they are tall.
5. Over-stitch ears together, right-side out
6. stitch the bottom corners of the ears together (dark color in) to make rounded ears
7. Sew buttons on the right-side seams for eyes, and sew ears in normal ear positions
8. Sew base of head to body back. It is difficult, but it raises the head up a bit, so will have a weird angle
9. Sew body pieces together, with tail, leaving a SIDE open. The only way to make this actually work is to leave the side open, as opposed to leaving the leg unstitched. This step is also difficult because of the amount of gathering you'll have to do. If possible, try to gather the majority of the fabric closer to the front legs.
10. Turn, stuff, and finish.
(Optional step) A really cute thing to do with this is to use one stitch to hold the tail against the lower back, making the lemur hold it's tail in a natural way.
Hope this pattern doesn't kill you! The end product is well worth the effort.
