don't mind the fact that papyrus looks like geno, that was completely unintentionallore drop!!!
Monsters made peace with humans so the underground was always monster's home but human were free to come get better education in new home (which was something like a bit university (toriel is queen)), but some human teachers looked to overthrow monster teachers and teach in ways that would affect badly monsters, most bullies in school were humans and things like that, it didn't go very well, so undyne took toriel's place when a human tried to get it (basically overthrow the queen to have full power over monsters) but undyne (which got back her undertale personalities, kinda almost murdered the human and it started a new war between monsters and humans, thing is humans decided to just evacuate and put a barrier there as to not lose human lives that were living in the university or elsewhere
