This is but a preview of things to come! I'm so satisfied by the way the colouring is going that I decided to post a little picture of the head. Did you know that the Alien Giger designed originally had eyes? And that it's got a clear dome with a skull underneath it? You can hardly see it in the film though. They removed the dome in Aliens to make it even more frigthening - alas, the birth of the Warrior Alien. Looks closely and you'll see the skull in my version!
There is also another reason: I need critique is you can spare me any. On what I need it on I don't know - or perhaps the shine and the drool? If you've got any good ideas let me know! If not, I'll just keep on with what I'm doing.
Ah! I've used two gradient layers on this on to achieve a slightly spookier shading. If anybody's got any good suggestions on "How to Avoid Gradient Layers" I would appreciate them alot!

Hmmm I think you can try to 1. make the other parts of the head more visible... 2.adding more details on it's head...

You want to aviod gradient layers? Hmmm..I don't use gradients that often. So I'm not sure how to help you there.
What I think personally that you could do to punch this picture up to to give it some glossy/shiny highlights. Make the slime look wetter. I do however really like the mottled skin he has.

I usually use them for backgrounds and for very slight shadows. I actually think I'll start over on this one. It's been ages since I coloured more of it and I've just lost the line of thought I was in...

wow, looks awesome! just like giger ^^, does look like it needs a little more of a shine on the head and in the drool though...and perhaps lighten the alien up a little so you can better see the details. really does look awesome though O_o

Ah, but here lies the problem: more shine on head and I lose the skull... Did you like the skull? Should I keep it?
