Nicely done. There is a supreme level of creepiness in Queen Chrysalis' conversion of Twilight Sparkle and the already transformed Princesses.Β

I always imagine these "turn the Princesses/Twilight into Changelings" plans backfiring HORRIBLY for Chrysalis.
Say, she gets vaproized immediately, and her would-be victim takes over as the new Queen. XD

Twilight and the Princesses looked pretty much doomed to me. And by extension, I would presume the rest of Equestria would follow shortly.
I always see these alternate scenarios as reasons why heroes in fiction and real life must A) Win AT ANY COST, or if not possible, deny the villains total victory AT ANY COST, and B) If the villains are defeated, be THOROUGH and RUTHLESS in making sure the villains will never threaten the world again i.e. Curing them of their evil/villainy/madness/whatever, or making them DEADER THAN DEAD.
Anything else (letting villains go, putting them in a prison that they will eventually escape), would allow the villains to just try again, and again, and again, and the laws of averages means sooner or later they will succeed, and they usually only need to succeed once.
And when they do... well, the pic here exemplifies the magnitude of the heroes' failure.
Next time they defeat Queen Chrysalis, they better make sure they 'cure' her or finish her off.Β

Well, we all know what Queen Chrysalis and her Changelings are planning to do to the ponies if they had won.
Had Twilight and Cadence failed, the ponies of Equestria would be reduced to cattle, their love harvested for food. The beautiful Equestrian land would be reduced to a wasteland of dust and hives, like the distant badlands we saw when the Changeling were cast out in the episode and/or what become the Cat tribe's land in the IDW comics. And in this pic and many fanons, the Twilight, the Princesses and the Mane Six turned into brainwashed Changelings.
One way or another, Chrysalis' victory would mean the extinction of ponykind.
When the consequences of failure are this high, it isn't just pragmatism or fatalism; it is a MORAL IMPERATIVE that you don't take any chances. You can't justΒ hope that the villain will stays awayΒ after driving the villain away; you go on the offensive. You must be thorough, ruthless, relentless and complete in making sure the enemy doesn't come back. Their defeat must be ABSOLUTE.
As Cato the Elder had repeated many times in the Roman senate of their mortal enemies near the end of the Punic Wars, "CARTHAGE MUST BE DESTROYED."
Though I suppose reforming them is alright in Equestria. The important point is just being thorough in neutralizing them.Β

They don't have to enjoy or like what they do, far from it (if you do, you automatically forfeit whatever moral highground you cling to), but if they have no alternative, they've Gotta do it.

True, true--even discounting the comics, the 'lings weren't exactly the most benevolent of conquerors in the show; extrapolating where they would have gone from there isn't hard.
But then again, this IS Equestria we're talking about. A place where griffons--who in mythological sources ATE horses as a favored food source--are, at worst, short-tempered punks; a la Gilda. (Not to mention how it was implied Gustav le Grande was an Equestrian citizen; IIRC Twilight said "chefs from all across Equestria" would be competing.)
And anyway, as I recall Cato was the guy who kicked a Centurion out of the army for **hugging his wife in public**. He...may not be the one to quote on matters of moral importance.

Still, his famous "CARTHAGE MUST BE DESTROYED" declaration is certainly very cool, in a way.
You know, for some reason I always imagine Classical Age Equestria, between its founding and Discord's takeover, was a Roman-esque imperial power in its ancient world, dominating culturally, military and economically in Pax Equestri Hegemony and 'Harmony'.Β
As for the Griffons, I presume this lack of hostility between the two formerly antagonistic species was a result of centuries of peace brought on by Princess Celestia. Before that, though, I presume there must had been a lot of conflicts between ponies and griffons.

SomeRandomMinion In reply to BrutalityInc [2014-05-04 20:16:42 +0000 UTC]
I...sort of have "militarist past Equestria" as my head canon as well. Nothing concrete or tying into specific events, just the basic idea. I just like the idea of the ponies being the biggest kids on the block even before the Sisters came around, just in a more..."direct" way.
As for the griffons: same thing--conflicts in the past; on-and-off wars for varying reasons, but smoothing out after Discord was overthrown and Celestia and Luna came to power. In fact, imagine that they had to work together to survive the whims of the devil-headed psycho and preserve SOME semblance of sanity and past society. This, naturally, took the edge of of rivries pretty quick.
Thus, when the Sisters took over, I like to think ponies and griffons, as well as other races, were mostly okay with each other. It makes the peace that came after seem more genuine and...well, harmonious. Otherwise, the implication is that the griffons/minotaurs/fill-in-the-species ONLY play nice because they're terrified of the Princess' divine retribution.

Very lovely art, but this plan will fall apart the instant Celly and/or Cadence regain their rightful minds and realize that if Changelings get stronger from love than given the love the ponies feel for them, they'll be able to fry Chrysalis.

I always knew my Queen's power is overwhelming and unmatched! Not even three princesses could stand before Her!
Chrissie looks both cute and fierce at the same time - I like that connection very much! You also added an excessive amount of the bright spots pointing Chrysalis's body... but to be honest they just make Her look even more adorable. Β
I have to mention that you did a great job with the other corrupted princesses as well. Their mindless stares are funny. ^^ And another thing - Twilight in the middle of transformation looks great. I like how characteristic for Chrissie features are appearing on Twilight's body.
A great piece of art.

Also, fantastic work here First off, you drew Chrissy marvelously. Brilliant work on her heavenly eyes; and on her radiant, gracefully-flowing mane
After that, I love how well you drew her elegant wings; her epic horn (especially with that magical aura); and her flawless chitin coat
Also, gotta love that wicked grin she's sporting...
Apart from Chrissy, you also did a fantastic job drawing the others. I love seeing each of them in a Changeling-fied appearance
Again, fantastic work
