according to the Wiki, HRE is older than Gilbert.
in this story I draw HER and Germany are different people (or countries? XD)

not to be a word nazi. lol pun *shot*

but nii-sama is only used as brother when you are trying to show great respect.

nii-sama=great respect to brother
nii-san=older brother
nii-chan= younger brother

i say this because i would not think that prussia by personality would always call HRE nii-sama

hope this helps clear things up

about nii-sama, nii-san, nii-chan, aniki, and etc,... basically all means older brother.
and which one the person uses depends on the person's character, social status, age and relationship with the older brother, so I'm sorry but I can't explain so easily...
generally, "onii-chan" or "nii-chan" is the sweetest way to call older brother, and "nii-san" is the next, "aniki" is the least sweet. small children tend to use " onii-chan" though they change it to less sweet ways while they are growing older.
I guess "nii-sama" or "onii-sama" are not used daily now... it's very polite so usually only nobles or such people used them. somehow, I feel it's very old-fashioned when I hear "nii-sama"... so I love it.

anyway, it's just a fun-fiction, so don't be so serious~
I just thought that if Gilbert call HRE "nii-sama," it must be verrrry cute~

Actually...

Doesn't nii-chan still means 'big brother'? The san is just replaced with a chan to make it sound cuter right?

Plus 'younger brother' is 'ototou' in japanese.... At least that's what I've been reading up ton now...

ChocolatePixie In reply to Yichiku [2010-06-04 02:01:17 +0000 UTC]

well, i always knew that chan is someone younger than you and san is equal or higher. it can be used to sound cuter but i always heard that nii chan is younger and nii san is older

D'awwww so touching!
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't HRE grow up to be Germany? And like the person above me, I thought Gilbert was the older one...and HRE doesn't look like he grew much in the last panel...

But I love angst!Prussia and bromance!Prussia+Germany

mituha In reply to DaikonRose [2010-05-22 21:36:35 +0000 UTC]

Himaruya doesn't make sure about whether or not Holy Roman Empire is Ludwig, so I just drew them as different people in the story.
I wanna see Ludwig is irritated by Gilbert calling his brother ni-sama with happy expression, because Ludwig haven't known the Gilbert! XDDD

I guess that Holy Roman Empire was born first from the Wiki, but Gilbert had grown up bigger instead of him.
some fans says that Holy Roman Empire had never grown up and disappeared.
I'm really not sure whether it's true or not and I'm not good at the world history, but the idea is more exciting for me.
so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry. ;;

just read it for fun~ <3

DaikonRose In reply to mituha [2010-05-25 21:11:50 +0000 UTC]

That's fine! I think it is always really interesting to see other artist's interpretations of Hetalia. The fandom is so open and the relationships can change drastically between countries which is what I love so much about it.

If Holy Roman Empire disappeared...I'd be sad

Vivi-kiramaru-sama19 [2010-05-22 20:57:02 +0000 UTC]

actually gilbert is suppose to be the older bro right? it seems as if he's younger at the first panel

awwwwwwwwwwww this is so sad, poor gil, he looks gorgeous though even though he's sad

mituha In reply to Vivi-kiramaru-sama19 [2010-05-22 21:20:43 +0000 UTC]

According to the Wiki, Holy Roman Empire was born in 962, and Teutonic Knights was born in 1190, so I guess Holy Roman Empire can be Gilbert's brother???
I'm not good at the world history, so if it's wrong, I'm sorry... ;;

germany could be HRE or he could be derived from hre, because not hre gilbo, but ger and gilbo, gilbo is older
