In my fanfic when G1 Megatron would return via his spark possessing the body of BW Megatron. And when he returned he would form an alliance with Sigma from Mega Man X.

And the reason for this is because of the two's shared hatred of organic life, and so the two would come to terms with each other's methods of eradicating organic life, until settling with a giant organic destroying laser. From there Sigma would be loyal to G1 Megatron and would help aid him in their goals, and would be part of the wedge that almost destroyed the friendship between BW Megatron, Tarn, and Otto Torx.
