When is comes to fixing machinery, Clutch has a natural gift, almost an intuitive understanding. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems and breakdowns on the fly, and especially in combat situations, is his forte--often wielding a semi-automatic in one hand and a multi socket wrench in the other.

When it comes to human interaction, however, Clutch is less adept. He is often perceived as cocky, snarky and over-confident, and his typical inclination upon meeting a woman is to make a pass at her. Rejection only eggs him on. But beneath all the crass behavior and motor pool grease is a dedicated and loyal GI Joe, who treats each of his fellow Joes as a brother or sister.
