Description
Derek is heading back home from the shop. When he sees the guy from last night, Carlos harassing another monster. Angered by this, he steps in kicks the guy square in his (tiny) kiwis. He then sees to the monster, sees that they are a Salamander (a lizardman subspecies) and she’s adorable. The Salamander introduces herself as Varys Ignis, sixteen years old and has come to be part of the homestay program.

Varys has shown to be shy and timid but friendly. So he buys her a vanilla milkshake which she loves. Derek asks Varys why she let Carlos pull her tail as he have heard that Salamanders are monsters not to be taken lightly. It is here that Varys reveals that most Salamanders are, she’s an exception. Ever since she was born Varys was much smaller and weaker then most Salamanders and others would ridicule her for it. So she joined the homestay program to get away from the teasing.

Feeling sorry for the Salamander he comforts her and offers let her stay with him. Varys is shocked by this and Derek insists that she will be welcome. After a few hours Derek introduced Varys to Ruka, feeling her territory is being invaded she asks why the Salamander is here. Derek explained her situation and so Ruka decides to tolerate this as she doesn’t see Varys as a threat.
