Description
I'm not really great when it comes to setting up a scene to photograph, but this idea popped into my mind and I felt like giving it a try.The picture has a personal meaning to me - representing a big hurdle that I have overcome. Maybe it's a little obvious in the photo; I'm not too sure. No, I did not try to kill myself. -_-
I'd love to hear your interpretations on this photo. Tellmetellmetellme.

like its something you kept / keep hidden
something no one knows about but you can see it plainly.
i like the darkness and lightness of it.
i love the boarder.

First off I would like to say that I can really relate to being that I too SIed for a good part of my life. Secondlly I liked the layout and concept of it. To me the strapping of the blade to your arm represents something that is a part of you and will always be. The bandages though symbolize that you have healed and are ready to move on with your life. Overall its a really good photo.

Amazing. I really enjoy this. To ME, it portrays a hidden.. world, of sorts. A pain masked, a addiction supressed. Maybe never or always healing, but never going away. Something that will follow you forever, even if it's no longer dominant in life. It's a wound, a story, lies. It's something that likes to hide, but craves attention. Brilliant work, hun.

I love it when people can interpret it for themselves. Thanks!

It's a great shot, it almost looks like chain-mail wrapped around your arm but then that would make no sense... at least not to me. At first glance I thought it was just a splint but through full view I already know what habit you kicked as I've been down that road before when I was in High school.
I might be digging a bit deep here but your fingers are partially curled which means your hand was completely relaxed. I know you say you didn't try to kill yourself but my interpretation is that through the relaxed shape of your hand it kinda gives off a "No life" feel to it.
I've thought about doing arm shots before but I can never think of a way to do it so that it's not just a point and click. Great job (Sorry for the novel sized comment lol)

Don't be sorry about a long comment! I love it! I really hate the way my fingers look in that picture, but that's an interesting point about them being curled. I remember thinking that I didn't want to make a tight fist - the tightness would imply strain, where I was going for a relaxed feeling (like you said). I'm glad this is open to interpretation.

That's a really, really great concept photo for SI. I'm really ratheer in love with this photo acctually. As someone else said, the idea that you may get over it, but it is still sort of bound to you, is prevailent to me. But I just... I cannot say enough about this. Lol. Very nice.

I believe I understand what you were going for, and what hurdle this was hinting at.
But all of that aside, this actually has several visual interpretations to me.
1. Covering up, or hiding, habits and scars, as well as having a fear of future inquiries about the marks.
2. Binding the knife represents that this has become a part of you, a part of your past.
Nice work. :]

Good thing you weren't emo enought to finish it Oh well... I like the contrast between the band and the background. The composition works nicely too.
Perhaps a little less complicated backgound? I think. A white text and a single white borders would have, in my opinion, been better.

Thanks for the comment. Now that I think about it, a simpler background might have looked better. Haha, I sort of dislike this photo when I look at it - the only thing I dig is the concept.

Well done for overcoming it, i know it's not easy. Managed to pack it in about three months ago, after going through it for about 6 years, since i was like 9. So well done.
And a really nice photo subject too. Thumbnail looked like an x-ray, and in a way looks like it could potentially represent something similar to that; as if the knife were more part of you than anything else. I like what you've done.

when i saw the thumb for this, i thought it was just a picture of an arm, which was kinda random.
but now that i've figured it out, good work.

Wow I really like this photo. You want my interpretation eh? Well, to me it's like the person has just giving up on trying to cover up their injuries because no matter how hard they try, those injuries are still there. And even if the flesh heals, when they look down at their arm they can still see the knife.
Either that, or the person needs to remind themselves of the pain and so they cover up the injuries so no one else can see it, except for themself. And they carry the pain with them wherever they go.

Would that hurdle be SI?
Sorry if it was a bit upfront but i've also kicked in that habit
Great photo. i like the idea.
Bit dark though but still good

Why yes it would be SI. Go us for kicking it.
Yeah I had to darken the hand because I realized I had it out of frame, so for it to look somewhat decent I just tried to make it darker. XD
