Dan looked up at the ceiling of his room. After he beat round 1, he couldn't stop thinking about the day in Pinwheel Forest.

Dan then turned and woke up Mitts. The rotom woozily opened his eyes and yawned.

("Mornin' Dan, we gonna get breakfast?")

"Mitts, you know why we're in this tournament, right?"

Mitts had a quizzical look on his face.

("Yeah, you told me we were in this 'cause we needed the money.")

Dan rubbed his eyes.

"I lied. We're in this because I found a way to get Scottie back."

Mitts eyes widened.

Dan pulled out a folded piece of paper.

"I got this note attached to the application sheet. It says that if we win this, then we can get Scottie."

Mitts frowned.

("And you decided to tell me this just now?! We could have made a plan! We could have told the hosts about this!")

Dan sighed. "That's exactly why I didn't tell you. I knew you would have been mad, and if we told the hosts, the kidnapper would run off, and we'd

loose them again. I can't risk that."

Mitts looked up at him. ("So, what ARE we gonna do?") Dan stood up. and brushed of his clothes. "For now, continue in PGO until we get our friend back."

"ALL CONTESTANTS. ROUND 2 WILL BEGIN IN ONE HOUR." A voice said on the intercom

"Gah! we gotta go, Mitts!"

(But what about Scot..")

"If we stay here, there'll be no chance of finding him! After we beat round 2, I'll tell the guys!"

Dan and Mitts tore down the hallways. Dan absolutely NEEDED to see who he was up against, it would be crucial for strategies, match-ups, type advantages/disadvantages, etc.

"EXCUSE ME! COMING THROUGH!" Dan shouted pushing aside a number of contestants. Finally, after much pushing, shoving, and apologizing, Dan finally made it to the contestant boards.

"Alright!" Dan panted, "Let's see what we've got for round 2!"

Dan quickly skimmed through the rules and regulations.

"Okay, knock someone off the platform blah blah blah, Only one pokemon, blah blah blah, Ah! here we are! opponents!"

Dan scrolled down the list until he found his name.

"Hm! i'm facing off against Krystol!" Dan said

("You mean the orange-haired girl from round one?") Mitts said.

"One and the same. Oh! I almost forgot! let's see, what dome are we in?...... Ah! dome three! Lofty Heights! Looks like this is gonna be an areal battle.

("A battle in the sky? That could be dangerous.")

"It says here that they've got barriers on each of the platforms. Attacks and Pokemon can get through, but people can't."

The same voice from before boomed on the intercom,

"ALL CONTESTANTS, PLEASE REPORT TO YOUR ASSIGNED DOMES."

Dan pushed up his glasses.

"Alright, Mitts, let's get to the platform!"

-----

When Dan got to the platform, Krystol was already there.

She smirked, "Running a little late, aren't we?" she said

"Those doors are damn confusing. It took me forever to find the right one." He replied, out of breath.

The Hostess at the switch chuckled

"Alright you two, the time for flirting's over. Let the games begin!"

She pulled the switch and the two platforms rose in the air. The next thing Dan knew, they were surrounded by clouds

"Alright!" Krystol shouted "You can do it, Skar!"

she threw a poke-ball in the air and out came a Skarmory.

("I'll do my best!") Skar said with a tone of pride.

Dan smiled.

"Sending out a flying/steel-type. Big mistake on your part. Come on out, Hannibal!" he shouted

The Dusknoir had a steely look in his eye. He caught sight of the Skarmory.

("like my master said, you have made a grave mistake fighting against me.") Hannibal said in a cold tone.

Skar laughed.

("Sure, sure, now let's get this over with.")

"Skar! use Sky Attack! Aim for Dan's Feet!" Krystol shouted

"Han! Get ready to counter!" Dan shouted.

Skar flew downwards to Dan's feet

"Just a little closer..." Dan thought. Skar kept barreling towards him, not stopping or slowing down

Dan planted his feet and shouted. "Now! Use Fire Punch!"

Hannibal's fist lit up in a blaze of fire, and then hit Skar right in the face.

Krystol's eyes widened

"Holy crap! His Dusknoir knows Fire Punch?!?" she said in exclamation

The force of the blow sent Scar rocketing back to her. Skar crashed directly in front of Krystol. He shakily got up and spread his wings.

("Ugh, you sure can pack quite a punch, fatso, but I'm not giving in just yet!")

Skar shot upwards into the sky like an arrow, and then charged full speed at Hannibal.

Dan grinned.

"Now! while Krystol's unprotected use Shadow Sneak!"

Hannibal melted into the ground, merging in with the shadow Dan was casting.

Skar stopped dead on.

("Damn!") Skar thought ("Where could he have gone?")

------

Meanwhile, at Krystol's side of the stadium, she wondered the same thing.

"Hannibal could be anywhere, just waiting for the perfect time to strike." She said with a twinge of paranoia.

She was so caught up thinking about what might happen, she never saw Hannibal rise up from her own shadow and then...

SHOVE!!

Hannibal pushed Krystol with such force that she went tumbling off the platform.

Seconds later, a gust of wind shot her back up off the platform.

"And we have a winner!"

Hero's voice boomed over the intercom

"Congratulations, Dan Andrews! You have successfully won round 2!"

Dan smiled. Hannibal floated back over to him.

"Good job, Han."

Hannibal nodded.

("Yes. I did do rather well, didn't I?") he responded

Krystol recalled Skar.

"Well, it looks like you won, Dan." she said.

The platforms lowered, and finally they landed on the ground.

Dan walked over to Krystol and stretched his hand out to her. She smiled, and shook it.

"You did well too, Krystol. I'm sorry that we both can't make it to round 3, and I hope that Han's Fire Punch didn't do too much damage."

"Don't worry about it," Krystol replied, "Skar can take one heck of a beating."

Dan pushed up his glasses, and then put his hands in his pocket

"Are you going to continue watching the rounds as they go on, or are you going to go home?"

"I'm gonna stay." she replied. "I'll be cheering for you on the sidelines."

Krystol walked out of the dome, and shut the door behind her. Dan rummaged around in his pocket and pulled out an old picture.

In the picture was Dan. He was only seven at the time, grinning form ear to eat. Next to him was a very happy-looking Lilipup.

"Scottie," Dan said with a hushed voice. "We're one step closer to getting you back."

Dan looked at Mitts. The Rotom patted him on the back with a sympathetic look on his face.

Dan and Mitts walked out of the room, side by side.
