Description
That one time when Darren was nearly killed.Earlier this week, Carol was alone with Darren, and she snapped.
She whipped out a gun and aimed at Darren, cold-blooded.
Before she could shoot though, Modus leaped out to stop her.
Darren braced for impact when Modus saved him.
What's most unusual here is Carol being armed. She never uses a gun for combat.
Hate observed how the gun was meant to be a brutal kill.
Pitt on the other hand, was able to chain Carol down using the Haunted inside of him.
In the previous timeline, Pitt's daughter was covered in chains when she became a Haunt. This could explain the awakening.
Stone by instinct ran to Darren.
She may have not trusted him in the previous timeline when the world almost ended by an impostor,
but he was still someone who went through Near End with her and Pitt. Darren was also not the impostor.
So despite being in the enemy team, both Stone and Pitt have a soft spot for Darren, the Adam of humanity.
After this close call though, when Carol calmed down,
Darren guessed that he was somewhat in the wrong too. He offered to take her out for a walk.
And so they did. They talked about what Darren did, and thought about a better way to do things.
A few days later, Darren still approaches Carol alongside Rove. Maybe they can be good teammates, Carol and Darren.
It's a good thing Modus stopped Carol in time, not because the act itself was devastating,
but it was because this happened once before.
Sometime last year, Carol killed her future self, Veron. She was sick of Veron's condescending tone and how she looked down on her as if she would never amount to greatness.
So Carol took out her spear, and stabbed Veron several times.
Veron never came back from this.
So if Carol successfully outs Darren here,
Darren would never come back either.
And that would disrupt the cosmic balance.
Possibly also destroying the laws of nature in the Modus Opera universe itself.
