Description
• The Dreddnutty is the third–largest form of Skellen–made airborne vessel, next to the Skellen Mothership (the singularly largest vessel of all) and the F–03 Battle Station (the second). The first one was completed in Age 320, and several different Dreddnutty models, each meant to be more sophisticated and powerful than the last, have been developed since. Pictured here is the Mk. III form of the ship, while the latest version to date is the Mk. VII. The most notable incident involving Dreddnuttys was the use of dozens of Mk. VI ships at once against all Ergnoplian cities during the very brief but also very intense and momentous Third Skellen Wars in Age 753. Dreddnuttys are multi–purpose vessels, which could in theory be used for relatively peaceful purposes of defense and transport but are, as is, almost always utilized in decidedly offensive attacking roles. Measuring roughly one hundred meters in length, they are heavily armored and are designed to be able to hold and deploy multiple smaller vehicles. A Dreddnutty's exterior sports a dozen or more, depending on the version, machine turrets as well as a comparable number of mechanical hatches that can be activated to release automatons such as Titopsi or Vlorpwhirl Drones. Its primary offensive mechanism, however, is a platform for launching large and powerful missiles. This platform is loaded and operated manually from within the Dreddnutty, which has three interior decks. Dreddnuttys have the capacity to carry crews of one hundred Skellen or more, though significantly fewer crew members than this are required for operating all of the vehicles' functions, and thus they usually have closer to fifty or sixty total passengers. Operations aboard a Dreddnutty are intended to be, and hence usually are, commanded and directed by a single "shipmaster", who is usually a Skellen warrior of the Field Captain rank. The Dreddnutty is very environmentally unfriendly, even by Skellen standards; being very lacking in aerodynamic quality, it relies entirely on three massive and massively gas–guzzling internal engines to keep itself airborne. In the case of the original Dreddnutty model, the presence of a single such vessel could, within just a few hours, produce enough smog to visibly saturate several hundred cubic feet of surrounding air. Later models have been somewhat less foul, but not by a whole lot, and due strictly to improved technology rather than any active, environmentally–concerned effort on the Skellen's part. Note that while the Dreddnutty does have two small wings, these alleged "wings" are, in fact, a useless aesthetic detail. Meanwhile, the most distinctive visual detail of the otherwise rather drab ship consists of a number of large reddish square emblems across its sides; this feature has been consistently present in all forms of the Dreddnutty.
• Vlorpwhirl Drones, or just Vlorpwhirls for short, are a form of automated Skellen weaponry, and a rare example of an entity that can truly be called a "robot", a term defined as describing a humanoid–made, wholly mechanical animate automaton and which is found more often in creative fiction than in descriptions of real technologies. Designed by engineers under the instruction of Skellord Blue and introduced in Age 747 as a more cost–effective, practical replacement for the Titopsi Kamikaze Drones, to which they have a similar role in engagements, the Vlorpwhirl Drones represented one of the multiple techno–military reforms ushered in under Blue's leadership. Being cylindrical in shape and having a predominantly red and orange color scheme, Vlorpwhirls are easier to produce in larger numbers than Titopsis, and though this cheapness comes with a cost concerning the effectiveness of each unit, the Skellen clearly consider the benefits of producing Vlorpwhirls as opposed to Titopsis to far outweigh the drawbacks. Compared to the Titopsi, the Vlorpwhirl Drone is smaller and more fragile, but then again, it doesn't explode as part of its express function and therefore can potentially be retrieved intact after deployment and used more than once. It has two methods of attack: a set of small laser guns mounted on its top that use technology similar to that of the Painer Pisstell, and, more prominently, a set of rapidly spinning bladed appendages comprising a mechanism that amounts to a deadly pinwheel. For maneuvering and targeting, Vlorpwhirl Drones make use of a fully–automated system of internal heat and motion sensors, for which the Skellen did not possess the needed technological prowess at the time of the Titopsi Drones' creation.
• Titopsi Kamikaze Drones, also called Titopsi Drones or simply Titopsis, are Skellen units whose nature straddles the line between automaton and synthetic abomination. Like Skellen Turrets, Titopsi Drones are almost wholly mechanical, but have slight organic components consisting of nervous tissue. While the Skellen Turret draws various loose cells from primarily vegetative sources, the Titopsi Drone's "brain" is literally the whole brain of a Ripspodal, kept alive by a flow of stimulant drugs and serving the sole function of seeking out and locking onto targets. Due to this key difference, the Titopsi Drone is usually considered to be "closer" to Abomination–status than the Skellen Turret, while still not as repulsive a creation as those that have been given the formal label of "Skellen Abominations". For whatever little it's worth, it should be noted that most Ripspodals whose brains are converted into "cores" for Titopsi Drones are already old and/or dying at the time, rather than being healthy up until the point of brain removal.
As its name, which incorporates an old world word mentioned in the Next Testament, suggests, the Titopsi Kamikaze Drone is an explosive suicide–attacker. Being roughly spherical in shape, it boasts four metal claws that are used for grabbing onto, and in some cases piercing, locked–onto targets shortly before the drone self–destructively expels a large payload of napalm–based explosive gel that detonates near–instantly upon release. Titopsis are generally found in swarms of as many as several dozen, which are held within and subsequently released from large manned vessels such as Sini–StarStations and Dreddnuttys. The overall design of the drone was almost certainly inspired at least in part by the parasitic Gorlunian creatures known as Errvwarps, which themselves are commonly used by the Skellen as "war beast" minions.
Titopsi Kamikaze Drones were designed by and developed under the direction of Skellord Green, who is still often considered to be the cruelest and most twisted of all historical Skellen leaders, and completed in Age 548, with their first implementation taking place during the (failed) invasion of Sertrop which was conducted the following year. Three different forms of Titopsi have been produced, with the Mk. II being larger, sturdier and capable of producing more powerful explosions compared to the Mk. I and the Mk. III being a further step up from the Mk. II in terms of the same attributes. Neither "advanced" model ever replaced the preceding one(s), with all three eventually being produced and utilized concurrently.
After roughly two centuries of use, the Titopsi Kamikaze Drone was largely retired and replaced with the more reusable, practical and easier–to–mass–produce Vlorpwhirl Drone under Skellord Blue's leadership during the mid–Eighth Century Relative. All the directions, mechanisms and resources needed to produce it, should the Skellen ever decide to start doing so again, still exist with ready availability, however.
• The Scapestrider is a large Sertrophian vehicle whose design was dictated by the planet's revered, ruling race, the nearly–angelic Labeiqers and which was first completed in Age 508. At the time of its invention, it was considered to represent a near–pinnacle of mortal technology, and it is still impressive by today's standards, continuing to be widely used while having undergone few upgrades from its original form. The Scapestrider is a blessed, divinely "endorsed" humanoid–built instrument, and is thus used without hesitation by all of Sertrop's inhabitants, many of whom otherwise opt to use as little "gratuitous" technology as possible as a way of expressing their particular devotion to God. While many other technologies on Sertrop that would otherwise be considered questionable by these uptight standards are currently sanctified in the same manner, the Scapestrider was one of the first such inventions to receive this express divine approval. Scapestriders are highly unique vehicles, with the only other locomotive machines that function similarly to them all being considered to be obvious imitations. Their main bodies are tank–like, and they stand thirty–eight feet tall in fully–upright position. A Scapestrider can hold a crew of up to twenty standard–sized humanoids in its two–story interior, the lower floor of which is often furnished with beds and the like. However, what truly sets the Scapestrider apart from… well, pretty much all other vehicles is how it gets around; it is simultaneously and paradoxically both a land–based conveyance and a flying machine. Its main, defining feature is its pair of enormous legs, with which it leaps hundreds of feet into the air by way of releasing a massive amount of steam pressure generated within the legs. Upon reaching a peak elevation, the Scapestrider then activates multiple thruster engines as well as a set of mounted rotor blades to both control its descent and maximize net forward movement. With each such leap, a Scapestrider can travel several miles in a matter of seconds. It can also be made to "walk" in a much more standard manner, but such movement is very slow compared to the Scapestrider's leaping abilities, as its legs were specifically designed for jumping, rather than walking, and is only useful for traveling short distances for which the vehicle's primary method of movement is unnecessary. Antigravity fields are projected within the interiors of Scapestriders for the very much necessary purpose of preventing motion sickness during leaps, and similar technology is used to generate tractor beams to carry passengers into and out of the entrances/exits that are the leaping tanks' bottom hatches. The Scapestrider is armed with a single large heated energy cannon, which is positioned and fired from a special secondary control station within the vehicle's upper interior level.
Due to their size and complexity, Scapestriders are relatively few in number, the vehicles' total "population" being fixed in the low thousands, and while most settlements on Sertrop have access to a Scapestrider, most settlements on Sertrop have access to a Scapestrider. They are used mainly in emergencies and otherwise urgent situations, where optimally–fast travel is needed, and especially for transporting important personnel. Considerable training is needed for one to be able to properly and safely pilot a Scapestrider.
• The FiteFite Fighter is the most standard of Demioid vehicles, being a single–pilot fighter pod most directly comparable to the Ergnoplian Ovi–Craft and the Skellen Vete Flyer. Heavily armed and lightly armored, it boasts dual frontal cannons similar in function and firepower to Sub–Bombardier guns, which were invented well after the first FiteFite Fighters and their cannons and are therefore considered to be handheld derivations of the vehicles' mounted armaments, rather than vice–versa. Though its wings do provide some aerodynamic support, its multiple thruster engines are by far the more important factor in keeping it airborne. Besides the pilot, three of four passengers can ride in its hull, though extra seats for such additional occupants are not included by default in any mass–produced FiteFiteFighter model and exist only as separately–sold and rarely–installed accessories. While primarily a military vessel, this vehicle could be permanently acquired by Demioid civilians who could afford to pay the massive monetary price that it sold for. The first working, widely produced form of FiteFite Fighter was completed in Age 499, though the Demioids had been experimenting in the field of small, flying attack vessels for years prior to that date, having previously created several other similar but inferior attempts at the type of vehicle that was ultimately perfected for them with the FiteFite Fighter; these machines were rendered obsolete almost immediately upon the more successful version's introduction. Following its debut, the FiteFite Fighter model was updated several times over periods of years, decades and eventually centuries, though all versions have followed the same consistent shape and mechanisms and are thus considered variations of the same basic vehicle, rather than distinct creations as each of the FiteFite Fighter's flawed predecessors were/are considered to be. The most recent, and quite possibly last ever, FiteFite Fighter model is the V–10, which was introduced in Age 761; no further upgrades have been produced since due to the crushing devastation of the Dynamo Legion in Age 767 and the subsequent decline of Demioid armed forces (and overall society) in general, from which the evil humanoids have yet to recover.
• The Lazzo Bike is the iconic and preferred method of land transport created and used by the Latpazats of Lazberon, a tough and amoral all–female and, consequently, all–homosexual race (see their entry proper for further information). It serves and fills the role of an "automobile" on Lazberon, which is to say that it is utilized as a common, general purpose, (usually) single–occupant motor vehicle of which most independent adults own one. Like most "automobile–class" conveyances, the Lazzo Bike does not have a single, consistent design, instead coming in numerous variations with different aesthetics, to suit personal preferences, and sometimes different, enhanced functional attributes as well, such as multiple seats, more powerful engines, more heavily armored bodies or even mounted firearms. However, all forms of the vehicle are motorized bikes that are designed for traversing the rough terrain that comprises most of Lazberon's surface with brisk speed and relative smoothness while also being able to cruise comfortably through the planet's much more furnished cities. All models possess two large, thick–tired wheels at their very fronts and backs, respectively, while most, though not all, also have a pair of secondary, smaller wheels that provide extra stability and are positioned midway across the Lazzo Bike's length. A large, singular frontal headlight with multiple, adjustable brightness levels, the highest of which is almost blinding, is another consistent feature; though it is rarely practical on such a planet as Lazberon, where nights are short, this gimmick of a mechanism was included by the designers of the vehicle's original form on a whim and has stuck ever since. Lazzo Bike racing, usually involving high–octane, specialized models, is a popular sport/pastime among particularly adventurous Latpazats and an overall common occurrence on Lazberon.
