Description
Mixed media (watercolor and pastel pencils) on paper (49 x 56 cm)By this artwork I wanted to show what kind of impact globalization has on world's most unique cultures. The same facial features of individuals represents the danger of assimilation these cultures are facing in real world.
It took approximately 10 hours to finish

What is wrong with assimilation? Many of these people are willingly interacting and adopting new cultural ideas that for most is an economic benefit. There cultures won't completely disappear, but simply change. Japan went hard into the industrial era and rebuilt by the West, but for the most part has maintained a distinct culture they are proud of while advancing economically with the rest of the world. When countries have shut out foreign economic interaction and actively attempted some sort of cultural preservation it often holds them back using dated economic practices, an intrusive and corrupt government, and greater poverty. Disastrous Indian policies after independence from Britain are a great example of this.

While I understand your message in this beautiful work, I feel that the melting pot effect does preserve unique cultures to an extent and allows for greater cooperation among different peoples through mutual understanding.

That is a wonderful piece of art, with a deep yet saddening message
even for a cosmopolitan like me
i like the details of the clothing and especially the way you coloured them and the overall style
I also like nice use of the " sfumato " , it makes it even more beautiful visually

This piece of work is truly fantastic, firstly not only does it look amazing, I mean the detail is superb but I like how you have blurred the edges it really adds to the mood of the painting. But the message behind this picture is also fantastic, recently as part of my geography course I had to do a whole unit on development and globalisation and it was a real eye opener of how hugely some cultures can be affected by the phenomoenen of globalisation.
