Did you get the Extended Cut for the endings? In my opinion, it makes the endings better, though I never actually had much of an issue with the original (beyond it being too vague).
It's funny that this guy is so hated, but he's the first to support you in 3. I think he learned his lesson.

omg I just played Mass Effect 2 (my first ME game i've ever played) and I'm freaking in love with it. After I got Garrus I traveled everywhere with him, and discovered he is a cut scene diva. Literally every cut scene he would have to be in it it. No matter what. I love him so much. I have determined I must get these games now and waste all of my time one them!

Granted, he was a Mass(ive) Douche in the first two games. But I personally thought he got huge redeeming points in the first act of "3". Once the threat of the Reapers quite literally presented itself, he put aside his arrogance and was the first to come forward and offer assistance. Granted, said assistance came with a price, but hey, when did it not in these games?

If you have a knack for scifi than the ending to ME3 is just the beginning. It leaves enough room for speculation so Shepard could have survived. That's the point of customizable characters and the choices. It is your story and you will tell it as you please.
