I wanted to capture the sadness and loneliness of beauty. In so many ways, beauty gets all the attention, but in many ways, it's all alone.Many ideas came to me in putting her in an environment but at the end I just wanted to focus on her and figured that if I added more things to the background, it would lose her in all the mess. I had a lot of fun doing everything. Designing the skirt was the hardest part but I like it however.

No one appreciates Beauty and yet we also shun It. It's a sad and disturbing concept, but I think you captured it perfectly. I love the glow of the skin and the texture of the skirt. Beautiful.

her figure set against the background, looks angelic as the folds/pleats/ruffles look something like wings.

I'm not sure what I like more, the piece itself or the thoughts and concepts behind it.
I really enjoyed your comment on beauty. Usually, it seems to get all of the attention but really, it's horribly alone, lost and cold under the lights and scrutiny of observers. The simply beauty of the piece says a lot as well. Emotional lonliness is consuming, and contrary to popular belief, no amount of elaborate possesions can fill that void. The fact that this piece is simple and in some ways empty really portrays well how she must feel. Funny how a lack of things can say so much more than the presence of a million things ever could, huh? Good Job.

its beautiful! i love the emotion and the feeling, the lighting is great, my only critique is with the hand, it looks a bit elongated and big, but the main part of the picture is her body and posture and emotuion, so don't even worry about that.

I definitely feel what you mean. Beauty is always lofty and unreachable. That expression on her face is perfect. Damn, how I wish I could be of some necessity to that lofty beauty. I've seen it so many times but it's always slightly different. What a noble inspiration for a painting. I'm glad you realized it.
