Description
"Flush! I win!" Myra said triumphantly, spinning her hand around to show it full of hearts. She stuck her tongue out at him with a cheeky wink. "Looks like I've won a new travelling companion." The man across the table stammered. He only bet a few silvers, he never mentioned anything of the sort. He stopped when he realized that the cards were sparkling with magic, was that pink-haired charlatan always so tall?"I forgot to mention. These cards are magic, they shrink anyone I win against." Myra explained. The man lunged across the table trying to grab the cards out of her hand, but he was already almost half his normal size. His reach came up far short. Myra just laughed at his pathetic attempt. She walked around the other side of the quiet booth at the back of the tavern. By the time she got there he was already a quarter of his original size. He tried to run but she grabbed him by the back of the collar like she was picking up a cat. He wasn't much bigger than one after all. She turned him around so they were face to face and watched the fear manifest as he finished shrinking in her hand.
"Time to introduce you to your carriage for the long journey ahead!" Myra said, taking off a boot. If the shrunken man protested, she couldn't hear it, but she could see his struggling between her fingers as she dropped him inside. "See you later little bug! if you live long enough anyway." She called down as he fell into the hot darkness. "Try to get to the toe of the boot, you're less likely to get crushed there. And if you clean out the space between them while you're down there, I'll try to step more lightly." The last light was blotted out as her enormous foot entered the boot. He ran to the front of the shoe as she suggested. Her toes bore down upon him and he screamed and threw up his hands. They crashed into him pinning him underneath their sweaty embrace, but he was unharmed.
Outside, Myra grabbed a coinpouch from the seat where he had shrunk, she had gotten good enough with the cards that she could usually single out a few valuables not to shrink along with the person. She opened it and counted. There was less silver than he had bet her in the first place. "You little shit! You didn't even have enough for that bet!" She said, stamping her foot several times, pulverizing his tiny body under her toes. Disappointed in her winnings, Myra left the tavern, waving to the oblivious barkeep on the way past. This town clearly wasn't very wealthy. She'd have to travel somewhere else to make enough. The nearest town was a few hours by foot. Hopefully the shrunken man would last that long.
