Description If it's not evident yet but I'm really fond of imperial kngihts, and the artist  hammk.deviantart.com/ did one illustration depicting an imperial noble's own "pentient engine" which got me inspired to do a similar thing and here we are.

These sentinels are part of the guardsmen forces of Ghul-Jensen and the reason as to why they look like pocket imperial knights is because the nobles of the world Ghul-Jensen are quite jealous of the Imperial knights of Alaric Prime, as a result when a noble joins the ranks of the guard it's within the ranks of the  Sentinel Battalions or"Knightly orders" to which the knights of Alaric Prime quite Irritating.

Though to look down at these men and women  would be quite the mistake as they would be the most likely ones to reach the highest ranks and the bonds they will make within the orders will be life long allies and therefore it would be wiser to be on the good side of these individuals as they will at some point hold alot of influence.

In combat Sentinel combat groups act like and in conjunction with cavalry. They would be organised into a group of 3-4 Sent/Squires with two units of Rough Riders and in some instances an APC with infantry for the apropriate role (whether it be to hold a point or equiped with tank hunting armament or other).
The Sentinels act also as shocktroops trying to cause as much damage as they can before more robust units come along.

Then it begs the question what makes these sentinels any diffirent to all the others?

The first answere is the very prominent    chainsword this weapon not only allows to discourage enemy's from entering into close combat (I mean imagine even if you were a space marine I would not like your chances against a mech with a geat big chainsword!) but it even poses a threat to armored vehicles (it's one big can opener!).

The second answere would be the pilots being that these men see themselves as knights in shinning armor they are alot more zealous than any other sentinel pilot.
So in one situation a regular Sentinel would fallback a Sent/Squire would stand firm and would even counter charge!

I enjoyed drawing this illustration the scene is inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's "Nauscaa and the valley of the wind Vol 3 counter attack at the siege of Sapata" which was a really exilirating section in the whole series. when I was inking with the dip pen it aquired an interesting affect for the initial outlines of the individual sections of the drawing and then after I layed the first layer of shading I moved to more fine tipped pens such as 0.05 and 0.3 which aquire more satisfing shading effects and in the completley black areas I use a brush pen to get an even surface. Overall really satisfyed with this Illustration.

anything you feel like pointing out?
