Gowan first learns to ride on tiny unicorns. Tokotas don't come to the Grange until he is quite an adept rider, but then he has no problem adapting to ride Tokis as well - especially the loyal and easy-going Ginkgo . Later in life, as a riding expert, he goes on many long riding trips, exploring and camping in wonderful and strange places all across the worlds.
