Name: Coviello

Personality: Quite the 'fool' Coviello can often pretend he's lame and then be perfectly fine, softimes he feigns stumbling/tripping and even can pretend to be blind.
Quite a few scares unvieled this wee gem in his cunning acts and now know what constitutes as a real or 'fake' symptom and now saves on vet callouts for antics that seem to only amuse him.

Hes quite fond of snow and seems uneffected by it's cold for long periods of time, we hope to teach him harness to pull a sled for pleasure but not harness for show. As like his father, we will be adorning his tack-to-be with bells.

Moon stared into the field where the mare Hexadecimal stood grazing, the sun was low on the hills and a slight breeze swept over the grasses. A long limbed and noble-headed foal wobbled out from behind his dam and the woman gasped in amazement.

Hex must have droped the foal during the night, there had been no signs to call the vet or even stable her up on night watch. Moon stepped into the paddock to check over the mare herself to make sure she had fared alright, whilst a stablehand ran off to call the vet.

A frown drew accross her face as the foal limped past her, she straightened and approached the colt and it suddenly gambolled off, light and bouncy, with no lameness to his stride.

"Thats funny...i was sure he..." She mused quietly.

The brightly patterned foal snorted loudly kicking up his heels and promptly landing flat on his side unmoving.

"oh my!" Moon rushed over to check the colt and yet again, it snapped up, twirled and dashed off, completely unscathed.

"Now what in the world...!!!" Moon scratched her head, a hand on her hip.
"You are such a clown!....thats it, i'll call you Coivello...he was a strange one too!"

Wikipedia info on the name: (not my writting)

Coviello (French: Covielle) is a minor character in the Commedia dell'arte. He falls into the category of the zanni. His name is a double diminutive of the name Giacomo (Jacob or James). In English, he might be called Jimmy or Jackie.

The character dates back to at least the 16th century. He was typically from the southern part of Italy, and could apparently dance and play the mandolin quite well.

His mask usually portrays him with a ridiculously long beak-like nose, often near as long as his whole face. His nose and cheeks are usually painted red. He sometimes wears glasses, and is frequently shown with plumes in his hat. Callot shows him dancing with a slapstick and a sword on his belt.

Niccolo Barbieri says that Coviello entertains the audience by his "grimaces and affected language." Salvator Rosa says that Coviello is "sly, adroit, supple, and conceited." In Molière's "The Bourgeois Gentleman" he disguises his master as a Turk and pretends to speak Turkish. He could apparently be stupid or clever as the actor and scenario saw fit to portray him.

Likewise his costume could vary. He sometimes wears a skintight sort of unitard, other times he is shown clothed in pants and a doublet. The nose and plumed hat seem to be his most consistent features.

What a pretty colt! He makes me think of Medieval chargers in their caparisons for the fancy tilting competitions.

Me, too. I have a friend locally who is a herald in the local SCA and has a lot of knowledge about the history and use of heraldic symbols. Lots of strong contrast and bright colors.

I wonder what would happen if we crossed this fellow with a Denki-ba mare? *ponders*

Working on a proper breed sheet today for the Denki-ba, so if others want to create one and breed it, some structure will be available. Of course, that means I have to finish *making* the breed's details.
