Euphoria

The cold snap of winter was steadily diminishing, giving way to warmer nights and longer days. Elusive thrived on weather like this, her belly was tight and she was constanty shifting her weight from leg to leg, visably uncomfortable.

Moonquill was concerned and called the vet, who arrived an hour later setting to work at checking the sunrise coloured mare over. There was a problem, the foal was not positioned right to be birthed properly.

"Oh gods!, please save my mare!!"

Elusive was sweating heavily, and was far too uncomfortable to lay down, she circled the loosebox stall, pawing at the soft straw beneith.

"Easy girl, we are here to help" MoonQuill fought back tears of fear and stroked the mare's silky face.

The vet nodded "Good, keep her still, im going to reposition the foal"

The small foal stood on wobbly tall legs next to her dam, a confused expression on her elegant head.

"Shes a beauty MoonQuill" The vet pointed out, as she cleaned up, re-checking the mare.

"Elusive will be a bit sore but with care she will recover, I wouldnt reccomend putting her in foal again for a while though, perhaps put her broodmare status at rest and take her to some light halter shows..it would be good experience for the foal too."

MoonQuill sighed heavily, she was just glad she didnt loose either of the horses. She gazed at the foal's brightly hued coat, brushing a tear from her cheek. "Yeah she is quite a gem"

The little foal gave an excited squeel and gamboled around it's Dam then nosed for milk, the little multistriped fuzzy tail flicking franticly.

"She looks so Euphoric, unknowing of the events that surround her birth.....thats what ill call her, Euphoria...for a happy wee filly"
