Lightkit had a happy life as a kit, taken care of by Amberwing, and sometimes Sweetfern. He met Ferretfang in the medicine den when she was sickly, and liked her, she was a little scary at the time because of her tough tone, but nonetheless Lightkit didn't mind her.

"Hello there little Lightkit." a mew came from behind him. He squeaked seeing Sweetfern. "Where's Amberwing?" he mewed. Amberwing walked up behind the kit, playfully knocking him over with her paw, Lightkit mewed "Amberwing!", he playfully bit her paw. "Hey, hey, I need that to walk shorty." Amberwing purred. "I'm not short! You're just as tall as the clouds are high!" Lightkit squeaked in protest.
