Fun fact -- the nearest star OUTSIDE our solar system is about 3,500 times as far away as the FARTHEST planet inside our system. I wanted to illustrate that moment when an early model starship officially crosses the kuiper belt to begin the long, dark journey of months or years. From this point on the Sun is just another point of light in the eternal night sky, and every moment is passage through the unknown.
