➥ Jako stared at Comyet lying flat on his side with a red puddle surrounding him, mottling the ground and tingling the air with the bitter smell of it. Comyet was wheezing and breathing heavily while Nightmare was standing behind him with a smirk on his face, watching the dog's struggles with amusement in his eyes. In each of his sides stood his henchmen, Killer and Groyl with the same pleased expression. They were the ones responsible for such a sight, Jako guessed.

"What's going on here?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Why are you so surprised?" Nightmare licked his lips delightly. "We're finishing dealing with a problem here."

Comyet finally aware of Jako's presence at the sound of his voice, lifted his head slowly, managed to give a light smile of exhaustion and gasp "Hey Jay-!" before passing out.

Jako turns his head to glare at Nightmare; "I am confused as to why you're messing with my enemy," he growls. "Comyet is my problem to 'deal with'. Go away."

"It is my problem too as long as he gets in my way." Nightmare huffed impatiently. "And didn't you want him to die? What's the difference who does him in?"

Jako said nothing, only lashed his tail in annoyance as he continued to glare at him, watching him closely.

Suddenly, Nightmare bared his teeth and leaped on Comyet intending to finish him off but Jako acted faster. Digging his teeth on Comyet's scruff, he dragged his limp body away from Nightmare's snapping jaws. The faintest sigh escaped from Comyet as he was pushed safely beside Jako. Nightmare flexed his claws and scraped the ground in front of him in vexation.

"Give him back!" he barked. "You are not match for the three of us and you know it." With that said, Killer and Groyl bared their teeth on Jako in a menacing growl.

"Back off!" he snarled back showing his teeth. He pushed himself on top of Comyet's body to shield him. He looked around, not leaving any of the three out of his glaring eyes as he considered his options. He heard a faint, hoarse cough coming from Comyet; he was probably trying to say something but he was too exhausted or weak to wake from his unconciousness.

When he was ready to jump on them, a glimpse of golden fur caught his eye - Dream, he had come to his friend's aid after all. In a matter of seconds, he launched himself on Nightmare from somewhere behind Jako, eyes glowing and fur glittering. He blew Nightmare off his paws and held him down on the ground when sparkles surrounded them and they both disappeared with a blinding flash. Then silence fell as the rest of the dogs stared at each other in surprise. Dream would keep his brother distracted for a good while that was sure.

Jako saw his opportunity and lifted his chin disdainfully on Killer and Groyl. "You still here? Shoo and let us be on our way."

The two of them shared a glance but said nothing. Sure they could go on and fight without their leader but neither of them felt like it. Taking down Comyet appeared harder than they first thought and now face a battle-fit Jako wasn't a smart idea.

"Good. I'm outta here then" Jako muttered. He picked Comyet by the scruff of his neck and walked off, feeling two pairs of eyes burning on his back, the limp body of Comyet hanging firmly from his jaws and red droplets trailing behind him.
